(Sorry if this is the wrong place or a Subsim faux-pas! - Thought I'd pop this here as we had some great relationships with subsimmers when we were II./JG53 and thought we woudl continue that with our new group if possible)

http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t211/JG53_Valantine/arma53rd.png

The 2nd Battalion 53rd Air Infantry is a Co-Op unit with a worldwide membership. Whilst we do have a rank system and organisational hierarchy we are all here to enjoy sharing the camaraderie of gaming together within the ARMA 3 game engine.

In order to join us you don't need to have military experience, nor do you need to be the best virtual soldier in the world, we take everyone no matter what skill providing you are a mature person who wishes to share in the co-op nature of this simulation and are willing to be an active and productive member of the Battalion. We accept soldiers of all abilities as the main priorities for us as a group are that any new recruits must 'fit' with the group, our teamwork focus, and of course check that we are the right group for that individual.

We do have a minimum age limit of 18 and accept Recruits of this age or over, we do accept members under this age by invite only, we only ask that you are mature and that you respect your team mates. Each member is required to familiarize themselves with the games general features. This includes setting up the soldier's movements operate weapons and ammunition box, load out and clothing For further information please visit our rules page on our website: www.53rdAirInfantry.com (http://www.53rdAirInfantry.com)

Whilst we are flexible in our approach we also have some basic expectations on members activity levels. A lot of work goes into the group, both in mission creation, campaign narrative and general organisation and upkeep of our various resources. As such we believe that it is only fair to ask our members to aim to attend 50%+ of official missions as activity is the key to not only progressing the group, but also both having more fun with the game and getting more tactical depth in our operations.

We have recently moved across into the ARMA sphere following many, many years as a long established squadron through many incarnations of the IL2 series whilst performing a "war long" virtual campaign where every pilots statistics were tracked giving each pilot their own virtual career within the second world war.

Having recently moved across to ARMA game engine full time we have been slowly organising ourselves and our goals to ensure that we can continue our co-operative and teamwork orientated focus in the new game engine and of course, within the new realm of combined arms operations. With most of these successes under our belts we are now slowly rolling out our new recruitment and training programmes.

We recruit soldiers from across the Globe and have various positions and specialities available. Our group operates primarily as an Air Infantry unit and as such utilises helicopters frequently - however we still maintain tactical and strategic flexibility without being tied to one national, organisational or methodological doctrine. Whilst we utilise the ranks, medals and awards of the US Army we do not associate with any specific nationality - those are used as they are recognisable to most individuals and offer us a relatively easy and intuitive structure. Instead we tend to operate as a nationally undisclosed Battalion operating under NATO command in various flashpoints across the globe.

We are a well established group with a strong, and friendly, community feel having operated together within the IL2 flight simulation series since 2006, branching out into ARMA in an organised way during the ARMA 3 Alpha. We enjoy the realism aspects of tactical combat operations and as such have a rank and award structure to recognise individual progress. We operate a meritocracy that concentrates on teamwork, dedication, training and communication.

We are a Battalion based upon teamwork, however there is also discipline:
Discipline means to be organized, to do things correctly, and to achieve unit cohesion. Throughout your virtual career you will be subject to the rules and regulations contained in the Soldier's Manual and on our website. They will guide you through the complex processes involved in participating in an on-line virtual Battalion, as well as clearly setting out the parameters, responsibilities, and possibilities, inherent to your designated rank or role.

Whilst we have an organisational and rank structure we do not pursue the "hardcore milsim" aspects of making members refer to one-another by rank, sir, or other titles. Ranks within the 53rd are earned through both individual progress and by holding certain rostered positions. This is to ensure a clear command and control chain both within and outside of mission.

Communication within the group is of most importance. We use Teamspeak 3 to communicate during our missions and practices. This is an essential part of being able to operate as part of the team. As ultimately our emphasis is on teamwork and co-operation as a realistic combat unit: pursuing the hobby together to both achieve mission success and enjoy sharing the camaraderie of an organised group.

If you interested in joining a unit that focuses on teamwork within a co-operative campaign that follows a narrative dynamic campaign with a bunch of friendly chaps from various places across the globe then please feel free to check out the 53rd Air Infantry website found here at www.53rdAirInfantry.com (http://www.53rdAirInfantry.com)

We DO NOT use third person view - we strive for an immersive environment: nothing breaks that more than being able to go out of body to see over a wall.

Role Load outs - Each role within a squad has an expected load out - there is flexibility in your options however you must remain within your role remit - taking only the appropriate gear.

Dead is Dead - We utilize a wounding system based off of DAP's wound script, as such death and being killed instantly are options - if you die you are re-spawned on "Valhalla Island" and take no further part in the mission.

Attendance- We all have real world commitments, and as such understand when things come up that prevent you making it to official missions. As mentioned above though we do have some basic expectations for our members in terms of attendance as activity is the key to not only progressing the group, but also both having more fun with the game and getting more tactical depth in our operations.

We use Mods - ARMA 3 is designed to easily utilise user made content and modifications. Many of these mods add to the realism, immersion and options available within the game, as such we as a group take advantage of this by operating our own mod preset. Members are expected to download the mod set and maintain their updates: support is available via the forums if it is needed. We review the modpack at set intervals and clearly announce when any changes are to be made so as to prevent any issues with compatibility or ability to join in official missions.

Please note, as a group we no longer support any of the IL2 flight simulators - although many of our members do continue to fly IL2 in various versions online we as a group operate exclusively within the ARMA 3 game engine. Please feel free to look around our website and see if we are the right group for you, if you have any questions then the public area of the forum can be posted on without registration where we will answer your questions as best as possible.

I hope to see you on the virtual battlefield with us soon.

What's the mod list? Can't really find it on the site or boards. :hmmm:

We've just popped together a full download to make it a little easier, however here's the list:

http://imageshack.us/a/img89/2807/r3qn.jpg

Most can be auto downloaded through the latest play with six, a few still haven;t been added to that system and need to be downloaded individually from armaholic - which is why we've compiled the whole pack into one easy download complete with keys files etc.

Danke, see if I can give that a whirl, haven't messed with A3 mods yet.

From what I gather you run a schedule? Fixed days and times?

Valantine
11-03-13, 10:04 AM
I'll send you a pm with the mod pack download link.

With regards to times etc. We tend to run missions on teh following schedule:

Tuesday 20:00 GMT
Sunday 10:00 GMT (as this works well with the Aussies gents)
Sunday 20:00 GMT

We will be adding in a few additional times as things progress such as adding a mid-week Aussie suitable timeslot and hopefully getting our US section back up and operating with a slot or two in their own timezone (normally 20:00 US EST - our two senior US chaps are out of action at the moment - one has recently become a father and the other is deep in a new music project that has him travelling too much right now)

We also play unofficial missions which we use for training and just a bit of fun so if you want to join us for a bit that might be an option without the more structured commitment. Of course our preference is to get people to join for official missions which means getting stuck in for the team.

Valantine
11-06-13, 02:53 PM
Yep, as Tarjak mentions we do a fair bit of "unofficial" stuff too: we've had some great fun recently on a mission Tarjak found infact: dynamic objectives suitable for playing with only a couple of gents all the way up to hosting it for the random public to jump in and out of: although some "pubbers" can be quite sporadic in the way they operate!

Ideally we like for people to be regularly active in the official missions as it helps build teamwork focus and co-operation; we do understand that people have other commitments though so are relatively flexible so have a think.
Anyhow, there's nothing stopping you dropping in when we're mucking about with some unofficial stuff if you fancied it!

Just a bit of an update:

We have recently moved to Fallujah to operate alongside our UN, US, Danish and Iraqi allies against the growing Insurgency there. We have been having some decent turnouts with 8-14 players in on a regular basis which has enabled us to move from several small missions per mission night to one long mission with multiple objectives.

A few end of mission screenshots from the most recent ones:

Hello Subsimmers!
Been a little while since I dropped in here. The 53rd has recently overhauled its website design to help streamline things as best as possible. We now have a one click collection modpack for those using playwithsix and we have made it easier for those wishing to get to know us before joining to do so!

Each of these is normally taken at the end of a mission, so by then there are normally a few KIA chaps: in a few of them more than a "few" KIA as well! Everon as a proxy for the current Ukraine events is quite a messy theatre - and GRU spetsnaz are unforgiving enemies!

Thought I'd bump this with a bit of additional information: we are now regularly pulling in 16-20 members for official missions having recruited some former II./JG53 chaps back into the fold as well as a significant number of highly skilled and teamwork focused Norwegian chaps. As always we are open to any subsimmers who wish to get their feet dry, visit new and exotic lands, and perhaps get friendly with some locals!

Thinking about joining up. Seems like a good time to play with some people who actually are online consistently. Hooked up to the TS3 server and trying to sort out playwithSIX (doesnt seem to recognize armaIII as being one of my games...)

Edit: Ok, I found the uniform pack on playwithSix, but I can't download the oneclick download button, and subscribing still doesn't show it on my interface

Arclight

Did you register an account for WithSix? Seems you need to be logged in to be able to subscribe to the collection (http://play.withsix.com/arma-3/collections/HOa1g-CiT0Wt1B2sChRjIQ/53rd-air-infantry?filter_text=&sort_fields%5B%5D=followers&sort_fields%5B%5D=name&sort_directions%5B%5D=desc&sort_directions%5B%5D=asc&page_pageSize=12&page_currentPage=1&other_view=grid).

Also, the collections feature was released in beta first, so we had to enable the launcher for beta updates. Not sure if this is still the case, but I'm still running with the beta versions at least. Should be an option under "options>settings>other" for "receive beta updates".

Hi Krauter,
I've processed your sign up so feel free to register on the 53rd forums as you'll probably get a faster response there.
With regards to the mod collection - I believe that there is currently an issue with the withsix server that is preventing one click collections from syncing correctly. I've raised the issue with Sickboy (the chap who runs pws) so hopefully there will be a fix shortly as he is normally pretty good at hunting bugs down in decent time. Until then I'm sure if you jump on TS over the weekend you'll find one of us who is happy to walk though the current modpack contents.
Cheers and hopefully see you on the virtual battlefield soon
V

EDIT;

Krauter, withsix just released a beta patch that seems to have resolved it. Some sort of issue with it not remembering login details. So to get the pack, ensure you are logged in when you subscribe to the collection ,then double check the login again before attempting to sync. Any issues there will be a fair few around approx 19:00 BST on Sunday on TS to help out.
Cheers,
V

Hi all
The 53rd Air Infantry has expanded quite a bit since my last post here - we have gained a lot of new members with a range of experiences from those brand new to simming to those who have been around since the Operation Flashpoint demo! With such a range of new members we have been able to push into larger scenarios with our current theatre of operations being on the Celle map: following recent events upon Everon where the Russians were supporting an anti-western coup the Russians have gone on an all out offensive and are storming through Eastern Europe and into the heart of Germany.

If you are looking to join an organised Co-op group then feel free to check out our website at www.53rdAirInfantry.com or alternatively watch our new trailer here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_kpwPhnfDBw

For some videos from our time upon Everon please see the following link to some videos from one of our new recruits eyes: http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLdNx6GePJswKFZ9iqBcA5xGnPK1gVeSN6

You can also find our one click collection mod pack on playwithsix to make joining up with us even easier: http://www.53rdairinfantry.com/mods.html

We will also be hosting some organised public CO-OP play soon: watch this thread for more information!

We hope to see you dropping by to join up with the 53rd soon!
Regards,
V

Hello Subsim chaps!

I hope all are well!
Just dropping by the share a few screenshots of our current missions and to let you know that next week we will be hosting some public co-op sessions - both modded and un-modded and you are all most welcome to jump in!
Feel free to jump on the 53rd TS: info can be found on the website to click and connect!
I'll post a little more information with dates and times once the schedule is finalised - hope to see some of you online!

Gents,
It is still not 100% setup how we would like it, nor have we finished with making our own missions for the server from scratch - HOWEVER - I'd like to invite all the subsim chaps and ladies to the newly launched 53rd Air Infantry Public dedicated server.

The server is currently running a mixture of:
Patrol Ops
Invade and Annex
Dynamic Warfare

You will find it in the ARMA 3 server browser under the name - 2nd Battalion 53rd Air Infantry CO-OP - www.53rdAirInfantry.com

Or alternatively you can enter it directly via: 31.3.225.43
Our TS3 channel is also available for those who wish to communicate with their team for maximum enjoyment - the address is shown on the various whiteboards in missions as well as during connection to the server.
Kindest Regards,

Mission INFO:

Operation HALLOWEEN THUNDER

Recently a fungal disease broke out in the small Greek Island chain of Altis and Stratis.

Despite the best efforts of the Greek medical teams and a World Health Organisation task force the disease has both spread and mutated.

The patients display severe rashes before entering a high fever. Once the fever starts it is rapidly followed by liquidation of internal organs and bleeding from the orifices.

Worryingly the disease has not stopped at killing its victims: shortly after death patients reanimate as mindless killing machines.

The more recently a victim has reanimated to more rapidly it can move; so be extremely vigilant of the freshly dead.

Early encounters indicate that the reanimated can be stopped by conventional weaponry, with headshots the most efficient method.

We do not know why this is happening: as a small Police unit we have limited assets to deal with this situation.

It is vital we scavenge supplies during this operation as we cannot estimate how long it will take us to reach the evacuation zone: if it is still standing.

Mission ASSETS:

Precinct 99 Police Force

Captain: .45 ACP
SWAT Officers: MX 6.5mm Assault Rifle
Police Officers: Sting 9mm Submachinegun
Police Medics: 5.56mm Assault Rifle
Police Marksmen: .44 Ruger Rifle

Mission INFO:

Operation HALLOWEEN THUNDER - part 2

Communications all over Altis are failing; with confused messages and panic spreading rumours like wild fire.

Contact with the World Health Organisation Task Force has been lost and AAF High Command has declared martial law.

We are looking at some sort of mass panic event fueled by the recent disease outbreak within the island chain.

2nd Platoon A Company 1st Altian Guard Regiment - you are placed on immediate notice: as orders come in you must react to them and the changing situation upon the Island.

Public Operation Keyhole
13th November 2015
2000 GMT

Mission INFO:

Operation Keyhole

We continue to battle the Communist Insurgents across Altis.

We have recently received intelligence that the insurgents are utilsing the Almyra salt plains as their base of operations. We know that much of Eastern Altis is sympathetic the to insurgency.

We know that the towns of Molos, Sofia, and Delfinaki have sizable numbers of insurgents present. As such we must ensure we clear these areas before assaulting any positions at Almyra.

It is vital we have plenty of Ammunition for this operation. We can not estimate how long we will be in the AO.

Reinforcements may be made available by high command depending upon operational requirements elsewhere in this sector.

Intelligence:

Our sources have suggested we utilise the main road as surrounding roads and terrain have been heavily booby trapped by IEDs. Our source has said that it is possible that the communists have IED teams along the route, ready to set small IEDs if they feel an assault is coming. We suspect most of the insurgents to be held up in compounds, likely attempting to blend in with the civilian populace.

We are to mount up in a convoy down the route provided. Ensuring that Molos, Sofia and Delfinaki are cleared to ensure a safe route home.

Map:

Assets we have available are as follows.

2 x Zamak Transports

2 x Warriors

2 x Strider HMG

Additionally, the website / roster will be being updated shortly, so keep an eye open for new awards/promotions etc. With numbers increasing we are looking at expanding the platoon structure to give us more flexibility in how we deploy, as well as develop some more specialist roles like platoon marksman and dedicated helicopter support pilots .

The public server will also be getting a facelift soon with some new missions in rotation: if there are any you want to see, let me know and I'll get them added to rotation!
Cheers,
V

(even with raptor exploding every explody thing he can locate:rock:)

I consider it my duty to reduce the amount of potentially unexploded ordnance that might be left over after the war.
