I often visit my father as he's old and suffers numerous health issues. He sleeps in one room, his wife, my stepmother, sleeps in another. I sleep on the couch. He constantly gets up at night and sleeps about all day. Here's our common nights when I'm here.

He gets up at 1AM, bangs around, cuts lights on., gets his snacks..I wake up.

"you awake son"

Yea

He goes back to bed, gets up about 3AM, bangs around, lights on...
I wake up.

"you having problems sleeping son"

He goes back to bed, I'm wide awake now, but think I'll try to get an hour sleep. He wakes up at 6AM

"whys everyone in bed, get up lazy people and get to work"

So I get up..About 8AM he tells all he's tired and going back to bed, for no one to wake him up until lunch...

Then he wonders why I walk around in a daze when I come visit...:haha:

I know what you are talking about. My better half is slowly dying because of cancer. She wakes me up a couple of times during the night - every night. Even if I don't feel the pain she feels, it is painful to me.

Spying each other, nuking states, bombing civilians - all that becomes meanless if you can't get your handful of sleep. Day after day, after day, after day... It is a torture.

Build him a soundproof workshop, so he can tinker at night without waking up the neighbors.

Why not just pitch a tent in the back yard?
Problem solved.:smug:

Ear plugs and an eye mask are the order of the day. You might look a bit odd, but who cares when you are getting a good nights' kip?

I think it's more habit for him. I just think it's funny he wakes me up and then ask me if I'm awake...Plus he takes about 30 different meds.....

I lost my mother two years ago, life still isn't the same. I was close to my mother all my life, not so much with my father. They divorced when I was a teen, bet I went 20 years before I saw him again.

Heck, before my mother died, all us kids sent her a card on fathers day...
I had a great mother......
