Hello everybody, i know that as the war progressed in the Atlantic the Allies were able to develop an active sonar that could operate above the range of human hearing so that the impulse sent in search of the submarine could not be hear by the crew, but i have read that as the beam passed through the hull of the submarine there was a rattleling noise on the hull that the crew could listen to.
I was patroling in 1942 out the Med coast and i came across a tribal destroyer and i dove deep and vey silent but i could not hear the ping or any signal that i was locked by the ASDIC despite that the destroyer had a very accurate estimation of were i was and he kept throuing deph charges just on top of me like for more than 30 minutes. Luckly i believe he did not have knoledge of how deep i was, which was 190 m but i have no idea how he kept me locked for so long since i was not hearing any ping or any noise rattleling the hull of my submarine. I was wondering if anyone could give me an insight into this situation cause for me to be ale to survive it is very important to know when i am locked by active Sonar so i can act accordingly.
Any help would be appreciated, thanks Marcos.
