Where are they and at what dates? I want to blow them up. And is it registered in some way or will they pop up somewhere else down the line? If they are registered then I really want to sink them all.

Sorry didn't realize that was unclear. In the recog there are named ships, such as the Duke of York, the Hood, and the Prince of Wales, rather than destroyer/cruiser/battleship. So I want to know where exactly they can be found in game and what dates they can be found. I want to know so I can sink them. Since they are named, are they unique and thus when sunk never appear in that career again, or are they just randomly generate through patrols? If they are unique and removed on sinking then I want to sink all of them.

Unfortunately, sinking a capital ship does not remove it from the campaign unless it was one of kind and was sunk in real life.

For example, the Hood will disappear from game at the date sunk historically as will all major units. Until then, they re-spawn. That basically makes it impossible to render extinct a multi-vessel class of capital ships like the King George V class, as only one unit of the class was ever historically sunk. (the Prince of Wales). Many players have sunk the Nelson or Rodney over and over. They just come back for more.

So in short, you can sink as many Allied battleships, cruisers as you like, there will always be more randomly generated.

Dang would have been cool to sink all the major ships. Thanks for the info.

Yeah, but you have to ask yourself --

1.) How realistic is a submarine simulation where you could whittle the entire Royal Navy ( and maybe US Navy) down to naval irrelevance all by your lonesome.

2.) How realistic is it that Germany still surrenders in 1945 despite doing 1.) :03:

How realistic is a sub sim that has an unending supply of nameless aircraft carriers? US had, I think, about 40 carriers in the entirety of the war. And I'm not sure how major naval events are played out in game, but I figure either they are simply messages informing you the events have happened(boo if it is), or you can take part and royally mess up Morocco and Normandy. Either way player actions are entirely useless against the war, so realism is rather pointless. Let me blow up famous ships and replace them with the generic classes!

Well, I did cheat once to get the HMS Hood.

http://www.hmshood.com/history/timeline4.htm

That has the Hood's movements before the sinking of the Bismarck. There is also this website-

http://www.naval-history.net/xGM-aContents.htm

Shows the movements of most major British warships during WWII.

Like I said, I did it once to bag Hood, but I have seen her since, so like others said they just respawn. :wah:

For example, on the last patrol, I sank Royal Oak on 12 November 1939, south of Ireland (though, to be fair, SH3 called it only a "Revenge Class;" SH3 Commander supplied the name). Clearly, either Gunther fudged his report or a respawn happened.

You can sink Warspite (though she is not called that in the game) at 2nd battle of Narvik in April 1940 twice! Once in the inner fjord and, if you make a successful escape, out in the lower fjord after she respawns.

That said, capital ships are not spawning like rabbits. You can still go many, many patrols without encountering one.
