Hi Guys
I have been watching Schaefers videos and I notice that he is using a DECKS AWASH icon with TDW TDC 7_4_2. Apart from the changing the patch in TDW'S GP what do I need to do to get this to work?

His enhanced userinterface for sh5 I think .. or just order 7 or 8 meters.

Sorted! You just select 8 metres from the advanced depth gauge.

In New UI's there is a specifical button for ordering deck awash depth, without having to select 8 meters each time. The button is hidden by default. You must activate it through TDW's Option Viewer/editor, for it to show up

Hi Gap
Thanks for the reply.
Can you point me in the right direction as to where I might find this TDW Option Viewer Editor please?

Hi Volodya61
Thanks for your information. Decks awash now on an icon.
Can the options file editor be changed from the mods file with TDW mod enabled or does the mod have to be disabled first through JSGME before you can make changes?
To set up a new change do you do it the same as setting it up for the first time, by this I mean do you still set the path to the menu.txt and the SH5 main folder?

Option file can be changed in any way, whether the mod is enabled or disabled it doesn't matter.. but don't forget, if you'll make changes when the mod is enabled then all the changes will be canceled when you disable the mod..

No, I don't set the path each time I make changes..

Berbster,

Did you see you can set a depth pre-set for the decks awash button?

Hi lodebeard
Yes the default setting is 7 metres. I only tested it quickly and I am sure that the propulsion was changed from diesel to batteries. If so I will need to order a change back to diesel.

Sussed ok the options file viewer and made a note of my changes.

I believe the setting to change in this case may be the one which delays the engineer from switching power plants. This way heavy sees will not trick your engineer into shutting down the diesels when you are decks awash. I may be wrong though - I'm still a newb!

I roleplay that my crew has alzeheimer .. therefore I trust on my instruments. Even tho tat poor sap is telling me he switched to electric, I happen to know for a fact that he can not crank 14 knots out of those .. so I just ignore him, smile and nod. :haha:

Old thread, but ...

I can't find this options setting to reveal the button. Where is it in options and where is it on screen afterwards? Even though I order decks awash through speech recognition, it's good to know I can do it via mouse clicks as well when I want to.

Thanks ..:salute:

Make sure decksawash is enabled in both generic patcher then file viewer

Also stuff like using motors on surface have to be enabled in both too

Not many things do but several

Hope thats what you mean ?

:salute:

ps : forgot to say where icon shows in newuis, it's below the surface icon (unless my brain cell is letting me down)
and with alternate shafts (wording ?) you get dots between diesel/batt/co2/air and heading bar

Thanks Defiance! Don't you sleep? You'll end up like Sjizzle who goes days without sleep. His eyes must look like this: :o. hehehehe

lol .. I was just coming back in to say that the icon is there now, but you were all over this post too quickly. Strange that the icon wasn't there when I wrote that post, but I just recycled the game to test a sound bite for levelling the boat and *poof*, there it was under "surface the boat", so maybe just activating decks awash in the options file was enough to do it. :D Me happy now.

I still have to do those independent controls patches. Will wait until I return to port so I don't screw things up. We don't need any more CTD problems. :timeout:

Have a good one!

I'd tend to agree that it was a lie, since it would be hard to confuse chipping and spaying. :o

Hi Def

Why does this have to be enabled?

Your quote

Also stuff like using motors on surface have to be enabled in both too

I have had 'Decks Awash' for months now with just the OFEV and GFP patched.

Am I missing something I need?

I notice when I go to deck's awash the SH5 icon shows me under water and the watch officer will not report on the nearest target even when I go up to the bridge myself and see it fully staffed. Also radio messages can't be sent even with the radio antenna up.

I'm using the new UI by TDW and most of the equipment mods, plus TDW_GenericPatcher_v_1_0_164_0. Is there an easy way to signal SH5 that 7 meters is not truly underwater? :salute:

I think it is just an aspect of the game.

In the same way that you cannot use your binoculars.

It does not stay at 7 metres as the boat is pitching up and down.

There is also confusion between 'Standard Propulsion' and 'Batteries' not being charged.

Underwater in SH3 was set at 8 meters while Sh5 seems to have set at 6.5.. The exhaust on type VII is not down by the waterline, but high behind just under the flak gun.

This is a game bug in SH5 and it makes decks awash almost useless. :hmmm:Perhaps the TDW can patch this in his next version of the patcher? I will have to wait until I'm out this storm I'm in to test decks awash again, but I'm pretty sure I can still use binoculars at 7 meters. :-?

Only if i get to head groupie :k_rofl:

Now to brass tacks

It's just as if there's no middle ground, i mean either you're on the surface or submerged, guess that's simply how the game engine (whatever it's called) is

If you alter the cfg for depths to gain binocs etc while at descksawash, the payback maybe higher/lower sub riding on surface, throwing out the height of the 3d sprays (the beasts and sobers per say) who knows

I just picture it a night and day with nothing inbetween (no grey area) :wah:

:arrgh!:

Just to raise a point on this and ask if it is possible to use the binoculars when at decks awash? as I cannot. I have to wait till fully surfaced before I can use them.

Can this be altered by editing a game file or using the patcher. I'm using Dragon's version of the Wolves of Steel mod at the moment and the icon to go decks awash is there on the screen in TDW IU, shame I can't look at anything when I'm there! I haven't tried using the UZO yet but I assume this works ok?

Cheers for any advice on this.......

As far as I know you cannot.

If I remember correctly I think it was sober saying a long time ago that if it was possible decks awash would be used all the time.
