Probably similar diets existed in many parts of the world in the early times...you ate anything you could catch.
We've been French since 1066, probably earlier.
Heck, half our language is french! :O:

Two points:
1. You were very quick to defend British "Cuisine"
2. Your response is a rather good explanation for said "cuisine"

Anyone fancy a dish of "escargot", to go down with tap beer? Quite popular here.
Somehow I don't feel very French, though.

A couple of years ago I was considering moving to Sweden. I then learned that the Swedish word for "teacher" is lerare, among other strikingly interesting words too.

Oui. Fish and chips, and curries didn't enter our stomachs for many years to come. Well fish did, but not the chips. :arrgh!:

No, that would be the Poles :O:
Slovene: kva paj pol, a na mežnar špilaš
Polish: Zwrčny zšibšy ažmišnhwž

Oh that's right. Poland took all the slavic languages threw them up in the air, chewed on them for an hour or two before swallowing them and later throwing them up all over the carpet leaving only those three letters.

There's an ä in it: Lärare. :know: :03:
Lera means clay.
An interesting Swedish word relevant to this site is: Ubĺt, short for undervattensbĺt. Which means: submarine. :)
