An aerodrome thought to be the last intact World War I airfield in Europe is to be restored thanks to a campaign by volunteers and a £1.5m grant.

It closed in 1919 and remained overgrown until 2009 when it was rediscovered by a group of enthusiasts.

:yeah: See, not all news is bad. At least 24 original buildings still remain, it must've been a fantastic find.

Excellent, good to hear. We used to have an RNAS airfield here, just up the road, just a wreck of a building left now, one of the barrack rooms I think.
