New players sometimes ask us old sea dogs what mods they should add. Maybe there could be a thread where people could show what a modded SH3 can look like.

Here's my mod soup that I finally brewed ready after some weeks of adding mods and editing menu, txt and cfg files.

The base system is SH3 + NYGM supermod + H.sie's hardcode fixes. Most of the rest you can see on the screenshots below:

Don't forget sounds too! KB's Diesel sound and Guns are essential mood enhancers:up:

I hope that other players show their boats as well - that would help in deciding what to try adding next :arrgh!:

Your setup is eerily similar to my own.

I'm in definite need to add in the moonlight mod though. That looks great!

I'We both use MEP 4.2 and I'm looking to add the moon light mod to my setup.

Did you adjust any of the settings to either mod?

Yes the skin is yours :) Thanks a lot I really like that one - no allied submarine is gonna get the right measurements on me, when the cover painting is so disorienting :arrgh!:

@Tupolev:
I changed the MEP4.2 a little bit, as described by Makman94 in his thread. The Moonlight mod is as it is, no changes. I have a sneaking suspicion though, that the mod affects the light level during nights in a way that makes it easier for the enemy to detect me. I might change their sensors or the moonlight mod if I find that to be true. So far I've resisted the temptation to make moonlight test runs with the Mission editor :O:

I may try to play around with the settings myself. I really like Manos environment the way it is though, so I may just play a bit and see what happens.

One more question. Which mod are you using that gives such good smoke for the steamers? I notice that the smoke from the cargo is different from the tramp steamer in pick #2. It looks good. Is that the particles file from MFM?

That's MEP working together with NYGM. The ships have different smoke, old steamers smoke a lot, modern ships a lot less and not only that, but at long range the smoke is also visible when the ships' hulls are not yet visible :D

Not sure about auto solutions but I know he supplied an addon to use Weapon Officer solutions.

Thanks flag4 :) I don't know about the automatic targeting, but if Tupolev is right, there should be a mod somewhere that enables it.

Some of those (SoundMods, MaGui JFO Fix, My Files Mods) are combinations of mods to make re-installation easier.

My Files Mods are tweaks to the basic.cfg to remove all preloaded external torpedoes (I want the option to sail with external torpedo reloads or not) and change my starting rank to Oberleutnant (more realistic IMHO).

I play with GWX and SH3 Commander.

I searched the forum for some time to find the add on of H.sie Hardcoded fixes, thanks to you, I now know what to search : "Stiebler4B Addon"
