Is there a way to play Silent Hunter 3, with many computer commanding the same uboot ? I want to play it daily with my friend changing our positions(Captain, WO, Watch Officer ...). The problem is we dont have time to meet everyday.

Not that I've ever heard of.

How would you give subordinate roles (WO, Weps, LI)? AFAIK, you can't share control of the same sub. One guy gives the orders, the other executes them? CO would then have to have a subordinate copy of SH3 running. Don't know if there is any way to do that either.

But stick around. Someone on this forum will know more about it.

As far as i know its never been done. and there are technical reasons as well as practical.
1 You are the Kaluen you are not in any other role but the Kaluen.
2 The coding to achieve such a satisfactory result there would need to be something in the coding.
3 support would be a PITA
4 computer hardware and software has come a long way in 10 years what was not possible then is now possible

However I have an idea for a workaround but no guarantees it will work... Screen Share
Pros: you are both in the same sub, your desired outcome is relatively achieved:D
Cons: both can't carry out orders at the same time, cant be in 2 positions at once (IE one cant be in the control room and the other in the navigation charts), resource drain by the screen sharing software.:dead:

Probably not much good if you and your friend can't meet up, but I've done two-player SH3 with a mate using one computer with two monitors and keyboards. I'm the commander, taking operational decisions and directing the boat in combat. He's the navigator, taking all the sextant readings etc and doing full real navigation. With a menu of real U-boat food, some wooly jumpers, a white cap and bassy speakers for depth charging, it makes for a very fun day.

But we explored extensively the possibility of doing it remotely, ie over multiplayer, and pretty conclusively found it can't be done with current mods etc.
