Played for years and been gone awhile. Just bought a top notch gaming laptop as I travel like crazy and I'm ready to install SH4 Gold.

I had my old game modded with RFB and some small mods back in the day but think I'm going to go TMO and RSRD this time. I will be running windows 8 so any tips on installs, other smaller mods that really enhance the game both play wise and graphically, or just suggestions will be greatly appreciated!!!

Also suggestions on mods, etc... For the u-boat side of the game as well.

I can't wait to play again

Thanks!!!

I would go with TMO and RSRD for a time just to knock the barnacles off.
When comfortable go with CapnScurvy'd OTC mod if you're really into manual targeting.

This one is also a very good addition. The Traveller Mod.

This link has a good list for the U Boats.

Ok... Some questions here.

Got the game installed as well as JSGME. I ran the game stock, then updated to TMO 2.5 and ran the game and finally updated to RSRDC for TMO.

My issue is the graphics are so grainy and my textures seem way off. An example is when im on my periscope, I can see ghosting water on the left and right of the scope as well as the Tbt and binos. Plus the outline of the periscope is fuzzy/bloctchy.. Not crisp looking. All the other stations are super grainy and the map section is odd looking as well. Very blotchy as well.

I played with the PPF but it didn't change anything. I do have all my graphics maxed but this is a super high end laptop with a new 4mb video card.
I'm sure I'm doing something wrong or maybe I got a bad TMO download.... Any help will be greatly appreciated

Did you install Large Address Aware? http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/downloads.php?do=file&id=3634

Otherwise, it may be a graphics card issue. I don't have the expertise to help with that, but I know there will soon be someone that can. :know:
