You probably know him as "America's Toughest Sheriff," a name given to him years ago by the media. It's a name he certainly has earned as head of the nation's third largest Sheriff's Office which employs over 3800 people. But even before he became Sheriff in 1993, Joe Arpaio was one tough lawman

You get a cot in a tent and bologna sandwiches twice daily.
It encourages law breakers not to return.:up:

I have to find fault with his chain gang programs though. That's called slave labor and opens things up for abuse of the law, just to keep a good supply of warm bodies for work details.

Didn't he manage to get an increase in crime in his area while his neighbours suffered a fall in crime?
Wasn't there also a fall in the proportion of crimes his dept. managed to solve?

Won't do any good. The current tenants have already trashed the building. The eviction notice has already been sent out and there's no place to go.
