I was on that thing about three year ago :hmmm:
Thirty people were rescued when an amphibious tourist vessel on the River Thames caught fire close to the Houses of Parliament.
Many people jumped into the river from the London Duck Tours craft.
All the passengers and crew were rescued by the emergency services and a passing tourist boat.

I don't think that "boat fire tourists" is the right phrase.
It sounds like the boat fire was the tourist attraction. :O:
Tourists jump in to Thames to escape boat fire.
I am not opining whether jumping into the Themes is safer than a fiery death. :D
My thoughts exactly Platapus, a choice between the fiery devil and the deepish green turgid river.

A WWII DUKW (most fittingly dubbed "Duck"). I've seen one of those on land near the Imperial War Museum when I spent a week in London in October 2007.
I'm glad everyone got out safely.
It saddens me because the "Duck" was one of my favourite WWII allied vehicles.
Oh, excuse me. The "Duck" was American, so it was a favorite of mine:O:

Took a ride on a DUKW last year up in Wisconsin.
The one we rode was mostly stock with the only upgrades being to the brake system.
It also didn't have the self-ignite feature.
:D
I see the London Ducks website lists themed tours.
Maybe this was the 'Abandon Duck' theme?

You mention 'turgid'....you sure you didn't mean 'turd'? :)

If you are ever unlucky enough to visit DC, I can recommend DC Ducks, which is a rather unique tour of the memorials in DC. Well worth it.

The Dells in Wisconsin has 2 DUKW tour companies.
We took the Army DUKW one as they are closer to original equipment.

It would have been the same as the device you left on the Texas.
It sprung a leak last year if you recall.
:hmmm:
Wonder who that is 'arming' his back pack?
:haha:

Still remember Dan (elanaiba) depositing that 'parcel' on the deck of the Texas? :)

Only when the neighbour is at work.
Proper distribution makes his roses grow.

Always good to see the look on his face as he cleans 'my' mess up :)

C'mon Jim. Do the full Monty with the hidden camera and work on your aim. Dumping the mess "on" your neighbor will be much funnier.:haha: I heard it was always a hoot in Elizabethan times. Forcing the wise and wary to brave the middle of the street, dodging the carriages and the road apples.
I guess there was a good reason for every Englishman to carry a 'brolly.
