View Full Version : Does anybody have any experience with repacking .PC files (Asura)

Hey, I have recently reinstalled Sniper Elite V2. The game is fun to play but the incorrect German war flags are just killing the immersion for me. :shifty:

That being said, found a way how to unpack (more or less succesfully) the TheBlob.pc (the main texture file) which is Asura archive. I was hoping that the game would run just fine with textures unpacked in the main game directory... Fail.
I need help figuring out how to either repack modified files back to .PC format or, even better, force to game load textures from unpacked files.

If anyone is willing/capable of help I would really appreciate.

I would like to go from this...

...to something more like this

Kind of the wrong forum for this topic I would try here instead.

You may not find anyone there that is much into modding Sniper Elite though.

It's the best place to find people who mess with Game files.
:yep:

You might even find I've been there a time or two.

The simplest way is to get advice from someone who has done this. What you need to do may be really simple.

My thoughts. I'm not familiar with how your game installs but if you know the name of file you want to overwrite all you may need to do is (1) move your file to the right directory (2) rename the original install file and (3) name your modified file to exactly replace the original name. The mod file you want to use probably needs to be the in same directory as the file you want to replace.

Problems I can already see is that the original install file you want to rename & substitute with your mod code may not allow you to rename. The file attributes are probably "read only." You cant rename or delete. To do this you may have to manually change the "file attributes"

The problem with trying a repack is that there's going to be a check-sum during the un-pack process. A non-original file (name & size) will halt the install.
