Just about any teenager in Chicago today can tell you the story of Chief Keef and Lil JoJo, two rappers from the South Side neighborhood of Englewood whose songs serve as anthems for their rival gangs. Keef, an 18-year-old whose real name is Keith Cozart, is the most successful of the city’s emerging “drill” sound rappers (named after a slang term for shooting someone). Last year, while under house arrest for aiming a gun at a police officer, Cozart uploaded some videos to YouTube that eventually landed him an estimated $6 million deal with Interscope Records. The title of one of his early hits, “3hunna,” is a nickname for the Black Disciples gang, and in the song he maligns the Tooka gang, a crew affiliated with the enemy Gangster Disciples. “****a Tooka gang, bitch, I’m 3hunna,” he chants. Last spring, Joseph Coleman, then a baby-faced 18-year-old calling himself Lil JoJo, responded to Chief Keef’s musical provocations with his own uploaded song that included the hook “Niggas claim 300 but we BDK,” that is, Black Disciples Killers. In his “3HUNNAK,” Coleman also threatened to shoot a member of Chief Keef’s clique, and the video—which quickly captured close to a million views on YouTube—consists mostly of a throng of guys jostling into the frame, pointing an arsenal of firearms at the camera. This touched off an online war between the two rappers that lasted for weeks, and young Chicagoans followed in real time as it escalated.

Reminds me of that gun running who got arrested for posting his guns on instagram. Seriously, have criminals really become this stupid now?

I like it when criminals provide their own evidence. :yep:

The fifth amendment only prohibits involuntary self-incrimination.

I know this sounds stupid, but what exactly is social media?

Is subsim social media or is it just facebook, twitter, youtube and places where teens hang out showing their young bodies off?

I see in the news that in the state of California a law was just passed that teens under 18 can erase anything they may have posted online saving them from being embarrassed later in life.

I hear rumors that job applicants now have to include their user names for potential employers to check them out and if they find anything offensive they can be terminated.

This is just a message board, right?

I am so gonna look bad saying this...

I read the NY papers alot.

I notice when a rapist is running loose, it is always described as a white man, in whatever age range, and size range, but be it a black criminal, every description but race is included in the stories.

Flash mobs are always teenagers. No racial makeup.

Now Aurora Colorado, or the Virginia Tech massacre (ok asian), race of a shooter is always included. Columbine, well known 2 whiteys .

I want honesty in reporting, why are black commited crimes never reported by race, like white commited crimes?

(I am now the resident rascist, who cares, just answer the question.)

Whiteys are crazy, but we expect this crap from blacks.(not justifying it, just how the media sees it, in my view)The media is so bad in reporting stories.

1 month reading NY papers, will turn you into my corner, whitey is so evil, and there is always a reason for black crime, usually whiteys fault.

According to NYC papers, race baiting, even the far right wing, Rupert Murdoch owned Rags do it (NY Post, more bikinis than stories))(edit: liberal does not mean pacifyingy for votes. Like the crap that goes on)

I recently watch a documentary on the Latin Kings. Gangs are really something. Violent. The Latin Kings were lead by Luis Felipe AKA "King Blood". He was ordering hits from his prison cell using handwritten letters with coded messages. The police solved the codes and were able to bring him to trial again. This time he was served numerous life sentences in solitary confinement.

This particular gang had no regard for human life. This included members in their own gang.

Go onto Youtube and type in a gang name for example Bloods,Crips,MS-13,Nortenos.you will find tons of videos.

In the old days gang life style was spread mainly by a member moving yo another location and spreading the life style.since the 90's it can be spread by forms of mass media.Double time since social media and video sites like Youtube.

Many gangs these days are no longer race specific down south you will find gangs consisting of various races including whites despite the Hollywood stereotype there are plenty of white gang members. Here in Florida mixed race gangs are more and more common. You will notice in the home made videos that some of these gangs pack some serious heat.

Of course law enforcement can also use these same clips to gather intel.
