Greetings, All.
Errr.... I'm new here. I was attracted to this site by the wide variety of naval sim Forum topics, patches, and user-created
mods available here for many of the games I play, which include --
- Silent Service II
- Silent Hunter II
- Aces of the Deep (CMD)
- GNB III
- Fighting Steel
- Task Force 1942
- Sea Dogs
- Age of Sail II: Privateer's Bounty (although this one is more of a wargame than a sim)
- SubWar 2050
My name is Doug Root. I live in Arlington, Virginia, USA. I am retired from U.S. Navy military and civilian Government service, and had the honor at one time to serve as a Department Head on board the USS Enterprise [the real one, CVN-65, not the Star Trek one].
Although my hand/eye coordination is no longer what it was, I still enjoy my naval-themed computer sims [and, I started with "Gato," 'way back when, in the 5.25 inch floppy DOS era].
I shall spend the next month perusing and reading the various Forum threads here, before attempting to enter into any discussions with you "old hands," but I'm looking forward to it. This seems like a nice Forum, so far.
:arrgh!:
