I apologise if I've mentioned this elsewhere (honestly can't remember) but I do know I've told Steve on Skype.
Young Buna came back from his latest trip a couple of weeks ago and has now been formally notified he has been granted one years paid leave to study for and take his Chief Officers qualification. The maritime establishment he will attend is in our home town and therefore seen as a double bonus.
He went to Dubai yesterday with a friend to celebrate and his mom and this old bugga (me) are as happy as a dog with two tails :sunny:

Better watch out. Pretty soon you're going to have to call him "Sir".

You did mention it, but any proud parent would again.
Congrats to him, and double congrats if that's who he's gone to Dubai with. :salute:

That's right, you don't think :O: (taken on advice from Steve who I'm currently on Skype with).
That was promotion to second officer I believe.

That is Mizzi, one of his cadets...not sure of her nationality though.
He's climbing that ladder fast, they'll have to make new grades for him soon. Does the company have a position for Fleet Admiral? :03:
Congratulations to him, and to you all, it's been a good week, a new family member and a promotion for the lad.

For us lubbers of land, what exactly is the Chief Officer qualification?
Is this the qualification to become a "numbered" officer on the big floaty thing? 3rd officer, 4th officer?
Or is this more like the navy where you have Chiefs?
Inquiring polywogs want to know.

Leave me out of your nefarious schemes! :x
And since you insist on dragging me into this mess, I retaliate by reconstructing your horrible sentence. "With whom I am currently talking on Skype." :O:

He's already 2nd Officer. In this case "Chief" means 1st. Of course I only know this because Jim already explained it to me. :sunny:

Best I don't make reference to the fact today is also my wife and I's 29th wedding anniversary.
The daughter remembered but I guess Horatio forgot :stare:

Chief Officer (three stripes) = 1st Officer.
After that there is only his Masters (four stripes) = Captain/Skipper.
Congrats to the Young Buna!
And to to the "elder" (I left off the 'ly' to be kind) Bunas, great joy for doing a great job in raising the lad...

Congratulations on both events. The young Buna does have a good excuse for not remembering. That and I'm sure he's planning a big splash for next year.
Man, he makes some progress! Congrats!
