Note the Q-warrior headset at the start, for infantry and ground vehicles.

Some weeks ago I wrote an email to the MoD suggesting a similar system for tank commanders but with cameras mounted on the outside of the vehicle allowing a 'see-through' picture for the commander without him or her having to use the prisms, remote controlled camera (which requires the commander to make an extra step to visualise the battlefield from what he/she sees on the camera) or to turn out and risk exposure to enemy fire. On top of that, the system would also allow the data-link to feed real-time information to the commander about friendly units in the vicinity.
They sent an email back agreeing and stating that they had a similar system already underway using off the shelf components and that our armoured vehicles have cameras on them already...so hopefully this is something that Q-warrior will link into in the future.
Of course, the two tricky questions you need to answer are 1) Will it create information overload and hinder the user rather than aid him or her, and 2) how easy would it be for the enemy to crack the system and upload themselves as friendly units, thus screwing the battlefield awareness of the unit and leading to ambushes. Given how quickly Russia cracked the UAVs of America, I'd say that it would need frequent patches if it's going to be at all successful.
Still, nice to see that we're thinking alike. :yep:
