sh4 or sh5?

I have 3, 4 (plus uboat missions) and 5.

SH5 frustrated me. I ended up putting all SH away for awhile.

Returning now.

Do I go to sh5 or stay with sh4?

Welcome Herr Kaleun/Commander-Play both: as SHIV is properly a continuation of SHV in the sense that while Doenitz conceived of U-boat warfare in the Atlantic as a strategic course de guerre to offset the surface superiority of the British, the Americans, initially weakened after Pearl Harbor, kicked the game up to 'Miller Time' in the bigger Pacific with even bigger, badder boats. When on trial at Nuremburg for 'aggressive warfare', Nimitz and four hundred other allied naval commanders came to Doenitz's defense, essentially saying that they had 'commited' the same offense and that the appearance of 'Victor's justice' should be avoided on that charge. That he had been temporary head of state after the death of Hitler, led to his 10 years imprisonment on 2 other political war crime charges but not on his role or conduct as leader of the Ubootwaffe. No need to pick one, its all just fun and with all the modding brilliance for next to nada, its just gettin' better. :arrgh!:

It really depends on whether you like US fleetboats or German U-boats better.

Most in this neighborhood like SH4 and fleetboats, of course.

Like torpex said depends.I prefer fleetboats so stay with SH 4 with heavy mods of course.SH 5 has great potential and a lot of mods are out.I havent given it the time and effort yet but new gaming pc soon and plan to give it a real shot.Also, SH 4 has 6 years worth of modding work to support it, SH 5 has 2 or 3 roughly.Great thing about these sims is they dont die thanks to this amazing community.

Not sure of preference for u boats in ATO or fleetboats in PTO? Go with Sh 4 first, learn it, run the great mods, when bored or if bored or just curious about SH 5, repeat with it.

Since you already have all three, that decision is really up to you. Of course you'll have other people telling you what they like, but which do you prefer? On the other hand, why not play all three?

Take for granted that having wandered into where the SH4 users hang out and asking should I use SH4 or something else is like walking into a church and asking is this faith right for me.

For me having used SH4 and SH3 for a while, I tried SH5 and after half an hour of running around in first person mode from station to station I got frustrated and have not tried it again.

thanks folks. joefremont - you had the same experience as me. will stick to sh4 at this stage and try the mods.
