Just finished the movie "Emperor" , thought it was better than the reviews gave it credit for.Tommy Lee Jones was excellent as McArthur. I feel the role of General Fellers could have been played better by someone else, did not care for the actor, his portrayal seemed "forced". The scene where McArthur shook the Emperor's hand made me laugh a bit.Just wonder what those who have watched this movie thought of it?

I finally watched "Red Tails", it can't be worse that that. I was gonna
pay for view the Emperor then saw the bad ratings and wil wait until
it's free.

Oh the Emperor was decent, you will prob like it.Ill PM you. I was angry at how awful Red Tails was, what were they thinking? The corny dialogue, the star wars like aircraft maneuvers? Just sad.

Yep, when I saw planes turning on a time, it was more than I could
handle. Certainly not as good as the other movie. Still, both were historically accurate in many ways, probably to improve the image, they
did lose numerous bombers and had no recorded aces.

I kinda wanted to see Emperor...I'll wait a bit though.
Red Tails... :nope: It's like U-571.
From what I've heard of MacArthur, I could just picture Tommy Lee Jones as him, might have to check this film out myself at some point. The whole power struggle between MacArthur and the mainland US would make for a good film in itself in my opinion.

Gregory Peck did a fine job in MacArthur, based on the book by Clay Blair, Jr.
I haven't seen the new one.

Emperor is not nearly as bad as some make it out to be.U-571 is one I don't get why it has so many "haters". The movie was good, the acting was good, they took a few liberties sure, but it was a good movie with excellent visuals, acting, etc .Red Tails? Just horrible. I was hoping Red Tail's would be HBO's the Tuskegee Airman with a proper big hollywood budget, but it was not even close.Great visuals but acting was terrible, dialogue was corny, it was devoid of reality. The acting in the HBO movie about the red tails had top notch acting with Fishburne, Braugher, Gooding Jr, Warner, Lithgow and others.

I haven't seen the other Tuskegee Airmen movie...but I like HBO's war stuff. I bet it's good....and heck, Pearl Harbor is better than Red Tails.
U-571 has haters because nobody can stand that amount of historical inaccuracies. :har:

The HBO Tuskegee film is much better they used to show it from time to time on AFN Europe. That and Strategic Air Command with Jimmy Stewart.

Well, it's [fingerquote] Italy [fingerquote] in this movie. :03:
The movie was mildly amusing during the combat sequences...but not for long...other than that :dead:
Looks like a nice city though. :hmm2:

Croatian Istra was Italy between WW1 and WW2, so Rovinj was in Italy in 1944, not occupied Yugoslavia.
But in the movie, is it supposed to be Italy as part of the boot or the other Adriatic provinces like Istra :hmmm:
Most beautiful of the Adriatic towns by far

I would of watched "Emperor" if it wasn't for the fact that I despise "Dugout Doug". As for "Red Tails", yeah its right up there with U-571. Like Bubbles said, the HBO movie "The Tuskegee Airmen" is by far much a much better account of the 332nd Fighter Group.
Doug is very much like marmite, probably the most polarising general in US history.
It's not for nothing that some referred to him as the Gaijin Shogun.
