This is the second killing in consecutive months....doesn't look like Kenya is the place to retire to.

A retired British army colonel has been shot and killed during a robbery at his son's home in Nairobi, Kenya.
Edward Loden was on holiday when he was shot on Saturday evening.
Nobody else was injured in the attack which took place when a group of armed men forced their way into the compound in the Langata suburb.

With all the problems going on in Kenya right now, I don't understand why anyone would want to go there in the first place.

Very true but if a career has been spent there or friends and family have planted roots then I can begin to understand the need.

I wonder if the two killings are connected?

I've not read anything suggesting that so far but the country is on the slippery slide downwards where law and order matters are concerned.

The killers claim they were shooting at terrorists.

I've not kept myself up to date but that sounds strange when reading the original link:

The attack happened after armed men forced their way into the compound in the Langata suburb.

No stranger than the bull Loden and Jackson made up to try and justify 14 murders.

Wasn't aware anything not even remotely connected to the OT was a consideration here.

Depends how you connect.
You had the BBC with.....A retired British army colonel has been shot and killed during a robbery at his son's home in Nairobi, Kenya.

Nobody else was injured in the attack which took place when a group of armed men forced their way into the compound in the Langata suburb.

Whereas The Times runs with.....The death last Saturday of retired British army officer Edward Loden – murdered by intruders at his son’s home in Nairobi – means that we may never fully know how or on whose instructions the initial cover-up of the Bloody Sunday killings was organised. We do know that, on the basis of the evidence in the public domain, the two soldiers most intimately involved were Loden and Michael Jackson
