Hi guys....i ask to myself a question....
I have the silent hunter 5 version from steam, so i can't use the generic patcher of TDW.
but I thought...." and if I download the torrent version of the game, install the patchs and after insert the serial key of steam...will it be like if I had a copy of the stock game,so i can use the generic patcher???? :hmmm: "
ATTENTION:I'M NOT TALKING ABOUT DOWNLOAD A GAME AND CRACK IT, BUT ONLY TO DOWNLOAD A TORRENT OF THE GAME AND USE THE SERIAL OF MY GAME STEAM'S VERSION.
I hope haven't broke the rules and if there are problems with the post as well ... close

yes, but i must deactivate the steam version of the game before...of course... in this way the serial SHOULD be reusable....no?

I thought that once the serial had been used, it automatically registers on their servers and ie renders it locked to the owner's account and game.
So, if you were to d/l a copy and attempt to use steam serial it wouldn't work, since steam serial has already been activated.
You follow?
But i may be wrong...
I don't use steam but i know this is the case with many other pc games.
One serial for one copy of game.
EDIT: And since the d/l version of the game is considered as not bought, it may well be considered piracy...since you haven't paid for the game.

But you're still talking about an illegal download, which is something we don't talk about on Subsim.
Discussion of torrents is also not allowed on this site.

Since you're new and haven't had time to learn everything here, this should serve as an unofficial warning. On the plus side you only asked about torrents. You didn't say you were using one, didn't actually discuss the torrent itself and didn't post a link to one, so it will be okay this one time.
Just so you know, and others also can learn from this. :sunny:

I did the same error purchasing the Steam Version about 2 years ago. As I restarted with SH5 again about 2 month ago I purchased a stock downloadable Version through amazon germany for not more than 4.95 €. So even 2 cups of coffee on my way to work would cost more.
And by using the link in the upper right coner you could support :subsim:

I always buy the disc version. I'm not saying it's better than a download, just that I'm old and still like knowing where a game is so I can reload it whether I'm online or not. :sunny:

You'll have to download it only once after that you can reinstall witout beeing online. Having saved all my downloadable games on 2 differnet local backup drives is even more save than to have a disk which might get unusable:salute:
