View Full Version : Nasty way to die

To be attacked by a crocodile is a nasty way to die. This guy had been drinking during his friends birthday party when they decided to swim across the Mary River down in OZ. The river is infested with salt water croc, who can grow to 23 feet long and weigh almost a ton! Plenty of signs along the river say no swimming in river because of the crocs.

But take a dose of stupidity and some booz, and he jumped in. Got halfway across the river when he decided to return. As he did a croc came out of the water and clamped his jaws around him. Pulled him under and drowned him. Witnesses said they saw the croc with the guy in his mouth swimming up river a bit later. Rescuers showed up to search for him, and had to have the police shoot 4 crocs to make it safe for them to search!

I'm sorry this guy lost his life, but its his own fault. He knew better, but now his family has to suffer. I feel sorry for them.

Simple rules. Don't go swimming in rivers in the Northern Territory and tropical Australia.http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showpost.php?p=2091421&postcount=1179

You haven't met the man. If I was a croc I'd be scared to go near him.

Can he be awarded a special Darwin Award seeing as he did something fairly worthy of such praise and it was also near Darwin.

That would be the Dreaded Double Darwin award.

It the South East US, it's "Hold my beer, watch this." So I guess in Australia, it's "Hold my Foster's, watch this." :()1:

I know many use the excuse if they weren't drunk......Smart people know if you're gonna get drunk, don't get drunk where you can do something stupid, like be near crocs or a set of car keys.

Guess all his friends were drunk as well

Except most Aussies do not drink Fosters.Aussies have pretty broad selection of beers that taste better than Fosters and have a higher alcohol content.

That guy drank Victoria Bitter or XXXX I recon.

The US is the only nation where 90% of beer drinkers have poor taste and prefer crap beer. The number one selling "beer" in the US it pains me to say is Bud Light number 2 is Coors Light...100 kittens and puppies just died. One thing is for sure if you have tasted a Bud Light or a Coors Light well you in fact know what cow manure tastes like.

If you like those beers do your taste buds a favor and try some real beer (not Pabst Blue Ribbon).

I've still got all the appendages I was born with.

Thanks for the vote of confidence. I don't give crocs a chance to get close enough.

If this guy was drinking Fosters then the croc had as bad taste as this idiot.

I know what you mean. The problem we have, by the time the truly good beer gets here, it's so shaken around, and so old, that the flavor is lost.

Haha, VB reminds me of The Church in London - a club on a Sunday afternoon, full of UK mil, Kiwis, Aussies, and Saff Africans.

All joking aside, yeah, that is horrible. As bad as a shark attack.

I am very concerned about this story.

I hope that the alcohol in the man's blood did not make the Croc sick. :0

But seriously, why shoot four crocs??? The crocs were just doing what nature designed them to do.

Dunno why they needed to knock knock off four of them. Maybe to see what was inside.

The 3000 US Marines that landed in Darwin for joint exercises will no doubt be getting briefings not to go swimming anywhere that's not a chlorinated swimming pool. Even then you need to check what's in the water before going swimming.

I'm sure I'm not the only one, but I've seen many people die or dead over the years. Some died naturally, some didn't. Can't say I found any of them to be a good way to die.:o

Like you Wern, I've seen many different scenarios. I will say, quietly in your sleep is a good way to die.

It's like when someone asks "are they hurt bad". What? In comparison to be hurt good? :D

Of course one can be hurt good.. we have this club in DC. :yeah:
