Can the original 2005 version of Silent Hunter III be made to run on Windows 7. I've looked at Amazon and it says that it will only run on 2000. Would like to sail the seas again with that terrific game. Has been a long time.

Yes, but you will need a starforce patch if the game comes with starforce.

starforce is not supported by win 7

It should work but you'll have to go through the hassle of removing starforce once it's installed.

If you want to have a copy that comes without starforce, is already prepatched to the latest version and works 100% on Win 7, click the amazon link at the top right of this website and look for " Silent Hunter 2 & 3 by Encore" (May 1, 2008) It works on my 64 bit Win 7.

The Steam versions of SH3, SH4, and SH5 work great with my Win7 64 bit Pro system, but I have read that you can't mod SH5 properly with the Steam version. I don't know if that is still true or not.

Most definitely but after installation, remove SF before running the game.
