Hi guys

Really enjoying my transition from SH3 to SH4. it sure is a challenge.I did have some success today in avoiding being detected by a destroyer(maybe i'm getting better or just lucky)but i will ask this question anyway-are any of you guys using"easier AI for TMO 2.5"?The jap destroyer skippers seem to be superhuman in TMO so i'm thinking of using this mod.Does it make the game too easy or is it still reasonably difficult?Am i better off doing without it and learning how to cope with the AI?

good hunting to you all!

Yes Andy, I run Easier Ai. The way it was explained to me its actually more realistic. In the standard escort AI the subs will listen one second and then ping the next, giving them almost omnipotent abilities. This mod resets the AI so that they don't ping unless they hear something, which is more realistic.

And I agree the stock AI is rather vicious. However, I'm going to start a new thread which is somewhat related...

I've used it. It does make it a bit easier, but TMO is not that hard, it just takes getting use to.
Don't try to take on any DD's or convoys until you have mastered the art of attacking single ships.
Once you can do that without much trouble try a convoy. Attack from the side 2,000 yards or more. Once you nail a couple of those, hell, attack Japan.:)

Learn the AI and how it responds, that way you won't learn bad habits.

In time you'll think TMO is too easy and start using tweaks and other mods to make the game even more difficult.

Stock is bugged and you can easily defeat the escorts, even take them on on the surface and always win.

Thanks guys, after reading the advice here and in the thread by c13Garrison "ASW quality"i'm going to persevere without the easier AI mod.Although i don't think i will be wanting to make it more difficult for quite some time lol

good hunting

They're numerous threads on evading and proper attack methods, try using search feature for both.
