View Full Version : What has the game done to You!?

Rather than hijack a help request post, let me pose a question that just came up thanks to Admiral Halsey; what is the most illogical patrol order the game has ever issued to you?

Mine would have to be to recon Hiroshima harbor when I was based out of Freemantle in an S boat. I suppose the CO of the base was piqued after he pulled strings to get me a new boat and I turned it down. "Oh yeah you self-righteous clown? We'll see about That."

To drop off an agent on Luzon...on 8th December 1941 when all of the island is still Allied territory and not a single Japanese soldier has set foot in the Philippines. What? Did he just need a lift?

If you're playing stock, expect the illogical.

@Dread

Maybe all the jeeps had been requistioned from the motor pool?

Possibly. However, in the light of recent events, I've concluded that maybe even in 1941 we were big into spying on our own allies. Or even on ourselves. :D

I'm thinking there needs to be a mission where your drop off a saboteur at the Bureau of Ordinance to blow up all those seat-polishing bureaucrats who cursed us with a non functioning torpedo that they claim is working as designed. :)

I guess i'll just repeat the post you mentioned. It had me head to Tokyo Bay for photo recon for my very first mission ever.

How about dropping off supplies to friendly forces in Formosa, that was my first mission ever in SH4.

How about dropping an agent in Japan.
Classy move, I bet a white man was able to fit right in.:har:

I assume it was back with stock. My port was Manila, my first mission was a photo recon of IJN carriers....in Manila

:har: that is rich.

Well, maybe they ported for fuel and liberty, and the declaration of war caught them by surprise. Manilla's port authority gave them 72 hours to go to sea, much to the chagrin of the American governor. :yeah:

Being stationed in Brest and constantly being told they want me to patrol the waters north of Kola Bay. I never go by the way. I think the other was while stationed at Penag they wanted me to sail to Melbourne Australia ... I must have lost my charts on that one because I ended up in the Gulf of Oman and sank about 30,000 tonnes. Vice Admiral Doenitz tolerates my insubordination to a degree.

I saw it once back in 1986. Haven't seen it since.

Last night I reported a huge convoy escorted by two destroyers and one large cruiser. The Admiralty sent a reply.

:har:Priority:Sink the escorts to soften the convoy for future attacks.:har:

The escorts were DD to the rear, DD to the front and cruiser on the north side of the convoy heading 090 mid Atlantic. I chose to attack the cruiser and put four fish in her and she sank within 20 minutes. I did not get a completed task for sinking escorts. Because of previous encounters and this one I now only had one fish in the rear tube.:nope:

Being the bold one I am:yeah: and that sunset was upon us I ran into the convoy while the DD's searched for me. Once I opened fire with the deck gun on a tanker they came in a hurry. I had hoped to dive and allow one of them to chase me and shoot from the rear tube to complete the mission. I miscalculated their advancing speed and my crew took way to long to dive:/\\!! and I began to take on water from the shelling.

We died cold and wet.:dead:

sail out and intercept (stop) a task force...ostensibly by my lonesome.

I just want to look at my CO (I know I'd get in trouble) and say "You WANT us to die, dont you?" :/\\!!

Don't think I ever got that one.

It happens randomly, they basically say that a task force is bound for a location and you are to go stop them... :shifty:

so...you WANT me to die Doenitz? well...(launches into rant with 10x as many expletives needed to get point across)
