Not sure what to think about this...I've absolutely no time for drug traffickers of any nationality but if they were forced :hmm2:

Two women held in Peru over suspected drug trafficking have told a visiting cleric they were forced at gunpoint by Colombian gangsters to carry the drugs.
Melissa Reid, 19, from Lenzie, near Glasgow, and Michaella McCollum, 20, from Dungannon, were stopped trying to board a flight to Madrid last week.

I doubt it at least not directly.I bet that they agreed to be mules and then they backed out at that point they could have been forced of course they had already opened Pandora's box.

There is a show here in the US on National Geographic called "Locked Up Abroad" 90% of the people on it where caught drug smuggling most of the time they knew what they where doing. After seeing that show where they talk to the actual people I do not really have much pity to be honest.

On one episode it was two Scots a man and woman the woman was the mule but did not tell the man but of course she put the stuff in his bags.So he got the harshest punishment he was able to appeal and was freed fro jail but was not allowed to leave the country pending another trail this was also in Peru. The woman showed no real remorse for what she had done to the man.

The problem I have with these girls claim is why go through all the trouble to force someone to smuggle when there are droves of willing mules to be employed at much lower expense and risk? Food for thought and every parent thinks that their children would never do X thing I say any human is capable of anything money is very tempting to people.

They did a lot of hopping between countries at "gunpoint" if they were being forced.
If the Londoner/Columbian was holding their passports as they claim how did they travel to so many places from the Balaerics?

My view is that any government that seriously wished to put the Colombian drug cartels out of business would just legalize and regulate these drugs. Providing the users with the freedom to choose and a method of insuring they're not getting a tainted product from some street corner scumbag. The cost savings in law enforcement alone would pay for the infrastructure to regulate it. If a user wants to commit slow suicide with addiction, that's their choice isn't it?

As long as these substances remain illegal, the cartels get rich and the populace pays for it through their taxes. Makes a body want to...

The two British girls arrested in Peru for smuggling cocaine are claiming they were told it was marmalade.

Police are looking for a short brown bear with a blue coat for questioning.
