Hello sea hunters,
i'm new in this forum however not new in simulation games .. i play at this moment SH3+GWX3 and i'd like to report following:
1) destroyers and other light escorts relatively oftenly sink (damage, cripple, molest, whatever ..) themselves by depth charges (or probably by theirs other guns) .. i was investigating furiously and i've really found, that they do it often and more often if you just harsh them by going underwater with convoy (or crossing it extensively) .. i'd consider it as bug
2) at perfect (holiday, not for submarine) conditions (no wind, perfect visibility, no waves) are targeted and torpedo hunted objects recting very late .. i made some measurements and seems like there is very thin border for the AI between its reactiveness in poor conditions (weather, waves, visibility) and these excellent conditions .. well, i'd suppose that they might be catched by surprise at first attack, but why they are not evading torpedos when the other ships all around are in flames and it's obvious, that some rapist from deep is close ?
3) yet another annoying behaviour is that patrol boats are commanded by persons with suicide tendencies .. they always tries frontal attack with theirs pathetic deck guns against me and they always die (ofc with proper maneuvering) before they are in even theoretical position frem where they could cause me some severe damage .. i did ofc several tests and yes, they can cause severe damage, but it requires the captain to be drunk at that moment, not able to issue any commands
well, i play with 100% realism (+ no god's eye ofc) and i'm little bit surprised, how fast i was able to start dealing damage to convoys and ships with so rapid learning curve
anyway, sh3+gwx3 is still great and these little flaws don't pain much .. any comment is appreciated ..
regards, ntz
ps. more bigginers Q:s
4) is there any mod making visible exact coordinates on the map ? yes, i've read threads about that informative messages are not for me to follow, but .. don't understand why naval simulator doesn't have this feature :D
5) is there a way, to know the subgrids numbers ? other messages contains something like "foo happened in AF 1234" .. i guess that this big number represent exact sector within say AF NN area ?
6) I'm also confused by some messages saying me, that I (U-45) should dock in Kiel (for example) instead of Wilhelmshaven (start base) or should go to some sector but the main "Mission Objectives" pane remains unchanged .. Are these messages for me or do i confuse them ?
7) Is there any mod for some advanced hydrophone/sonar reports ? i'm annoyed by tedious sitting in the front of hydraphone and checking manually sounds instead of h-man does so .. i'm captain and these poor beings seems like have just two brain cells not allowing them to be more inventive .. i'd welcome some feature like "report what you hear from range 240-000" for example .. also how does the skill of radioman work ? it seems like even tired regular sailor has same real skill and output from using radio (sonar, hydraphone, etc) as specialist .. i'd catch it if the specialist reports more infos like some estimated range, bearing, whatever ..
ps. i never sink fishermans (fishing boats) and if i meet some crossing my path, i just go to surface to make the crew on there frightened (imaginery and roleplaying :)) .. but they are not, they usually even donn't change the course when german (enemy) submarine with manned deck gun (however not permitted to start firemission :P) occurs 50 meters from them ..
please, don't sink the fishing boats :) .. it's nasty (and little sailing boats)
