I'll find out next Thursday or Friday what the decision is http://img98.imageshack.us/img98/9425/praydl5rp5.gif
Odd, but I never thought of you as "retiring"...

No such do, first after you have come beyond the 100000 post marks, you can talk about retirement.

I don't understand the "I gotta, you gotta.". If I did my time gotta then I retire gotta. :D. Good luck brother!
Good luck on retiring Jim, I hope it works out for you! I retired last year, and it is great! I got real lazy, real quick!:D
But I am a bit more actve now, I do one situp a day. I sit up in bed around 8 AM, look at the alarm clock, realize I don't have to be anywhere or doing anything, then I lay back down! :D I'm slowly getting back in shape, for what, I have no clue.

If it is anything like my job was,:03: I wish you a speedy and happy retirement. I didn't have much choice. I kept getting injured (signs of old age) and didn't want to become a liability to anyone, especially my partner.

I've been discussing the pros and cons with Steve on Skype for a while now and currently the biggest pro is I'm only 56 and feel the younger I am the longer I hope I can enjoy it. On the other hand, the con is the fact the wife doesn't have the pension provision I have and will therefore probably work on...now that can easily become a bone of contention so the compromise will be me taking over what we call over here 'househusband duties', only time will tell if that arrangement works out.
Good luck on retiring Jim, I hope it works out for you! I retired last year, and it is great! I got real lazy, real quick!:D

Your welcome to it mate...to much resentment in the workplace when others find out your already in receipt of a pension and working.

Unfortunately mates, I think by the time Jim, and my kids would normally be thinking of retirement. The whole bloody idea will be scraped. Is this what the gov means by a return to traditional victorian values I wonder. What next, three year olds up chimneys?
On the less gloomy side. Bloody good on ya Jim, if it does pan out, enjoy it mate. Being british you bloody well earned it :yep: :woot::woot::woot:

Don't come to Merkelstan then. Our retirement age got lifted to 67 and the greatest thing: your pension gets taxed - again. Pretty smart move by our glorious leaders: tax the income, deduct the pension contribution, later when you'll receive it: pay up again! :dead:

Oh I really do agree Chris but the caveat on my retirement is the fact that the wife will not be retiring because of the vast disparity in our respective pensions plus the previous voluntary redundancy payments and golden money handouts from the government, so I must keep her sweet if you know what I mean.
God bless her she is really quite understanding and supportive.

Due to your age it would probably be only part-time 30 days on and 30 days off, includes checking out the women in their skimpy bathing suits at the pool and pool side bar while in civilian clothes of course. :o

You broke your butt all your life, your job was not easy, but judging by your demeanor, you did it well.
Now you must live!
Go on a month long cruise. Lay on a beach in a tacky speedo on a Carribean Island, get drunk to the point of hangover, and sleep in. Wake up at noon and sit around in your underwear all day.
Do all the things you couldn't before, and be reminded by how jealous the rest of us are.:03::haha:

Don't ask me how I know this, but cooking and/or baking in such a state of undress is a very bad idea. Almost as bad an idea as wearing a Speedo in the first place.
Nevertheless, if Jim plans to try it we should probably all chip in and buy him a good splatter screen for when he fries the morning bacon. :O:

From what I see?
You don't need to do much at as slow a pace as you can manage.
And only need to remember to say,
"You want fries with that?"
Not that your required to actually put the fries in the bag.

Actually, I was saying as much to Steve on Skype yesterday :)
I've no idea what I'll do when winter arrives :hmm2:
Probably end up looking for a job to fill in the time
My problem is just the opposite. Any job I can get won't give me enough money to offset what I'd lose from my pension, and would also take away from all the other stuff I'm always doing. I never have time to be bored as it is, and I won't live long enough to do all the stuff I want to do now. :dead:

Get a job at McDonalds.
From what I see?
You don't need to do much at as slow a pace as you can manage.
And only need to remember to say,
"You want fries with that?"
Not that your required to actually put the fries in the bag.
:D
Sounds good enough for me :)

After my forced retirement, I found myself so busy that I wondered where I ever found the time to work.:hmmm:

That's where we differ though...any additional income does not affect my pension but at the end of the day I know boredom is going to rear its ugly head sooner or later :-?

Four more days then I'm off to the Emerald Isle, thank god. Time for me to sample some of what you are having atm Jim. Can't bloody wait. Ooh BTW don't forget to ask Mrs Buna to blitz the roast this week. You know what a bugger it is when you get your crackling under your top plate ;)
