The kidnapping is the latest of a string of incidents in which the Syrian conflict has spilled over into neighbouring Lebanon.

How so very true :nope:

Lebanon is and always has been one of the last countries I would ever want to visit.

I have a mate who's a Herc pilot, every time he stops off in Tenerife one of his crew get mugged/pickpocketed.

I think he'd rather go to Lebanon.

Been about six year since I've holidayed there but on your advice it's now below Lebanon on that most feared places list :03:

:yeah: I hear a familiar soul reporting! Three attempted robberies, one attack on me, one attempted murder (got injured and took him out) and one assassination threat, I count in my history files. All fails. Maybe it is stupid, I know they told me, but something in me just becomes extremely stubborn and uncooperative the moment somebody tries to blackmail or tries to use force against me. I never learned to cooperate under such circumstances. Maybe an inbred antipathy against street crime. :)

However, back then I were not age 46, and I still were healthy. :timeout: Today - well, next question... :-?

It sucks to grow older.

I understand that in some 3rd world countries what they do is an entire gang of 7 or 8 people corners you or even just simply surrounds you at knife point. That would suck as what can you do really?

Of course part of the trick is to keep your wits about you as it is the one who is not paying attention who gets it most often.Somewhat like the crocodiles that sit by the river waiting to grab hold of the of the ones who are most focused on quenching thirst.

I think that muggings must be on the rise across the world with some many people staring at their devices they are easy targets.

I prefer to be like Peter Tosh " I'm like a walking razor dont you watch my size I'm dangerous." the watch part applies to those thinking of stepping to.You do not have to be the baddest dude on the street either just being the one paying attention after all what good does it do if you walk around half cocked even if you are Mr.MMA it wont matter?

I can fathom these two pilots getting nabbed as part of a ring that kidnaps for the ransom money many companies will pay to get their high value employees back. That I do not see being a problem in a 1st world country but elsewhere I'd be weary.
