Just started playing SH4 again after a long break. Last time I played 1.4 was the current patch, so it's been awhile to say the least. JGSME still the way to go to install mods?

Welcome back copaup.

just started back with SH4 myself after a long break with SH3.Forgotten how good this sim is with a few mods thrown in.

1.5 is current patch but you will need uboat missions addon to get it,it is not a standalone patch.

Good luck and Good hunting

Welcome back! :salute:

You'll probably want to get v1.5 w/ U-boat missions, so you can play the latest mods.

Welcome back! I'm trying to come back too, but my download copy of U-Boat Missions came with a one-time use key. Now, what game is guaranteed to need to be reinstalled? SH4. And if you lose your installation due to a computer crash, you have to reinstall the add-on from the download--which won't function with the key you bought. Yes, I paid money for software I can't use. Communications with Ubi customer no-service have met with silence so far.

Do not download games or game content, unless you use Steam, which works. Interestingly, on Steam not only can you download the content on your computer, you can download it on any other computer too and it works great! After all you can only play Steam games when you are logged in. If you pass out your credentials to someone and they log in at the same time you do alarm bells go off and big trouble. But for those of us who honestly use the games we buy, that is the only reliable way to operate.

If you're just starting to play SH4, purchase SH4 Gold, on a DVD. Otherwise you're buying future trouble you won't enjoy. I hope I will be able to play again.

Welcome back copaup and Double R (been wondering where you've been?). :woot:

I originally used Direct2Drive to download my "U-Boat Missions, patch 1.5" and had all kinds of trouble getting the game to recognize my authentication number after a specific amount of time passed. I'd have to call Customer Support to have them "reset" my authentication key and try again.....it worked every time, but it was a hassle each time to get something you paid for to work as expected.

D2D was sold some time ago. To my thinking, getting the new owners to look up my old account was just not worth the trouble either.......I bought a DVD copy of SH4 Gold Edition for under $8.00 from iNetVideo (http://www.inetvideo.com/products/silent-hunter-iv-wolves-of-the-pacific-gold-edition-pc)....took all of three days to come to the house!? The price has gone up from a year ago.....but so has a gallon of milk.

Some of the other community members have said the Steam download of SH4 is version 1.3......you can update to version 1.5 at an extra additional cost. To me, this smells like yesterday's fish.......get the DVD!.

Thanks Capn! Yup, another 24 hours and still not a peep from Ubi. Damn frustrating when they keep paying customers from playing their game while thousands play stolen copies for free and have complete use of reinstallation forever. Shows their attitude toward customers. They think WE're the pirates.

When I see the Ubi name on a game it goes off my buy list immediately. I've lived too long to be treated like a crook.
