I downloaded SH5 today and tried playing it and it becomes extremely choppy and ends up being unplayable. I know my pc should handle this game on the highest settings but something is preventing that from happening. Any help on this issue is greatly appreciated.

Can't remember where the post was but check your shader settings ingame before starting a campaign.

I have mine turned right down and it plays fine.

I have a pc with 8gb ram and a gtx 570, so less powerful than yours and i am getting 60+fps.

The shader up high can bring powerful pc's to its knees.

Bad optimization from Ubi.

Where is the shader settings is it in options on main menu because i cant find it?I believe he is talking about shadows, but I do not believe this is your problem. I believe your optimus is using your integrated card(intel graphics to save power) instead of your dedicated card(nvidia gpu). The next time you start the game do it from the sh5.exe and right click on it. There should be a menu option "use graphic processor" or something like that. Make sure you pick your nvidia gpu. You can also set it to default in the control panel(but sometimes that doesn't work and you still have to start the game from the exe. picking the right gpu option. I had this issue with sh4). My dell laptop had this issue as well with optimus, it doesn't always pick the right gpu to use. Now I have a desktop rig for games, but I remember a little bit about having this issue with my lappy.
And welcome to Subsim!:salute:

Glad to be of service. Intel HD graphics+SH5=Fail. The good part is since you have this info, any other games you've played may benefit as well. Also, make sure you keep your drivers up to date. You will find them at Nvidia's website.
