Interesting idea. Great for portrait photo's and if you get one at around $300 not too bad in terms of cost of a lens.

$300 is expensive for me, in this moment, but would love to have this lens for my speed graphic!

Not when you consider that a good quality lens can cost anything from $200 to $2000.

It depends. There are good/great lens below 100€ with good construction quality and fine glass, for 35mm cameras. My soviet lens are very good and cost me below 60€.

Looks like a limited application lens. It is not difficult to design a lens where the MTF drops like a stone. The skill in lens making is not having a lens like this.

Might be easier just to buy a cheap quality lens and stick it on a full frame system. Boom, there's your cruddy MTF curve. :yep:

Not sure how this would be any different than a Lensbaby.

But I really like the whole idea of Kickstarting. That is a good way to get funding.

Has anyone either used kickstart or contributed via it? If so, what happens if the requester does not either get enough money or chooses not to continue with the project. Do you get your cash back?

I love taking photos, but I am "forever amateur". Nevertheless, I don't have that kind of money to shell out for a lens.

I didn't support anything but thought about collecting for a project.


You don't pay anything until the requested amount of money is collected virtually.

After that you pay your share.

If the collector stops his project after collecting your money and he doesn't want to pay it back you have to start a legal process.

You have no guarantee that the project will reach a promised state.

It's up to your good judgement to support a project and what to invest for. It starts with one buck only.

If you have money to invest and find a project of interest it's a matter of trust.
