View Full Version : Observations and Questions

Fellow Kaleuns

I apologise in advance if this is re-hashed ground, no doubt it probably is, after the game having been released for so long and the brilliant modders having sunk their teeth into this game, coming up with terriffic and successful additions to the game.

I wanted to start with the first thing that i have observed, which is the exclamation marks above npc's.

See screenshot:

http://i.imgur.com/RFNAjqf.jpg

I assume that this means that the NPC is requiring interaction from the player, ie more dialogue with him to make it disappear.
I have noticed that after several selections of dialogue options that this is indeed the case and the exclamation mark disappears and that said NPC has a morale increase.

Is there a mod that makes this immersion-killer completely disappear?

Next, i have observed that whenever starting up the game, when i go into options, the realism settings are always set at 38%. The graphics settings seem to be ok, sticking with my previously-applied settings.

See screenshot:

http://i.imgur.com/i3ZzfMn.jpg

Does this happen to other players?
It's annoying, having to go into options every single time before loading up campaign to change realism settings.

Next, i ask if there is volume settings for gramophone and radio ingame? Or a mod?
Or settings in files? The default sounds for gramophone and radio are suitable probably for most players, however for players like me i would like to have the option of having the music from either of these come through louder than default.
Note: Yes, i have all sounds set to max in options settings.

Next, sometimes i have seen that when going to upgrade my U-Boot, in particular the camouflage, the camouflage skin, doesn't stick, or rather trfer onto the boot.
Only once so far has the upgraded tarnung actually tferred onto my Boot after leaving bunker.
Bug or mod that delivers upgrades every single time?

Next, the message box:

Is there a mod that A) keeps the message box minimized at all times? Even upon receiving new messages? Ie custom settings for size?
The 2 options existing are very inconsistent.
B) A mod, which may tie in with the first that 'moves' the message box to a different area of the hud? I think i saw a screenshot of a player's hud sometime ago, which had the message box in a different area that the default location.

Of course if that fails, then last resort, a edit to a cfg file?

Last observation, the radio messages.
Very inconsistent in the fact that if you for example send a message(patrol report) then the game gives you a "message received" or "message incoming" sometimes.
Errm, what? Most times it is realistic, ie it gives the voice notification of message sent.

Another thing is the message options settings.
Like the realism settings, the settings i enable ingame, whilst playing do not ever 'stick' or are saved, so that upon my next loadup of game, i have to again go into settings and change them to how i want them.

First, wrong order...IRAI should be after NewUIs...but that's not all...
Clic on my sig, and figure out your list order :03:

For exclamation marks and highlighted stuff border, you should get SteelViking interior mod + patch :yep:
It get rid of it...

Your difficulty settings should be memorized.
Go to your documents/SH5/data/Cfg/gameplaysetting and set to true or false whatever you need, then save.
Should be definitely stored :yep:

About sounds, i don't know if there is a volume somewhere...i usually use my PC volume.

About camo, i never use it :D

For the message box, you have to deactivate mods, go in NewUIS/data/application, and launch the fileviewer.
You'll find a message box tab, and set whatever you need!
You can make it draggable, or best, desappear/reappear when mousing over (that's what i set)

The message options settings, you can set it via fileviewer as said above

Good luck :salute:

Aha, thank you.I will reshuffle :salute:

It get rid of it...Thank you. It seems NDB,NDH OM#1 - No Dialog Indicator also gets rid of it. No substitute for SV's interior mod though :) I will re-enable interior mod, didn't know that that gets rid of diaolog marks as well, nice to know.

Your difficulty settings should be memorized.Should be but the memory is not as good as it used to be sometimes. It's called old age

@Fifi:

whereabouts in your big pot of soup (mods) would i put german language pack?

Also which mod(s) in your load order edit out the hp bars of ships when attacking them?
And the halos and no bubbles speech?
If any of them do, i wont need to load brf and "no dam halo no dam bubble mod".

Don't know about this one :hmmm:...because you don't have german voices in your game? If so, it needs a complete reinstall, and choose custom install when asked. This will give you the oportunity to check german voices box.
Otherwise, install last in list, in the doubt...

With my list, i don't have ships bars. Might be the difficulty settings though.
Don't have halos and bubbles speech either (because of SV interior mod)

All sorted. Since it's only changing sound files...
Loaded in bunker and runs good.

Difficulty settings in game? I will check.
As for editing health bars on ships, it's in zones.cfg file but cannot see where it is changeable :hmmm:

You can disable/enable HP bar in the difficulty options screen in the game.. or you can edit it but not in zones.cfg.. its settings you can find in data\Cfg\HPBar.cfg..

PS: you don't need to edit difficulty options in the gameplaysetting.cfg manually as Fifi suggested.. you can change them in game.. but.. only in the bunker.. when you're in the bunker press esс and change you difficulty options, they will save.. I think you tried to change them in the main menu difficulty screen before, that's why they weren't save properly..
