View Full Version : Worst, most unrealistic movie you ever seen.

I mean movies meant to be realistic, not Back to the Future, or Blade, but meant to be realistic.

Olympus has Fallen is such a steaming pile of crap!

I am so sure that DCs only air defense is one plane, taken out by a slow movers gatling gun, and despite the presense of a sam launcher on the white house roof, it never launches?

I am 20 minutes into the movie, and it has turned into a comedy!

I am so disgusted with this. I suppose this movie was meant for foreign markets, as they are the only ones who will believe DC air defenses this weak.

I turned it off, one jet scrambled over the capitol, yeah, ok.

Anyone else have a movie like this? You have high expectations that just fall short with "hollywood" bullcrap?

Implausible, or outright silly?

I think anything on the Syfy channel will work for this thread...

For old WW2 movies

Battle of Coral Sea 1959.

It was good in the beginning, but got so silly to be so serious. I about died laughing when the US sub got trapped in the harbor and the japs sent divers down and put microphones on the sub, attached a mine and then talked to the captain telling him to give up or they blow the mine. It does have some great real war footage.

Aye ya bugga...there were two interceptors firstly who usually go alongside to add visual to radio talk to eliminate any confusion, misunderstanding or technical fault.

It was the second flight, a single interceptor who eventually shot the Hercules down.

The White House SAM fired two or was it four missiles? (I'd have to look at my copy of the movie again to be sure).

Most importantly...It took the ex King of Sparta to save the die and make amends for what he failed to do all those centuries ago :smug:

Yeah it did fire, the invincible chaff saved them, (plot no jutsu) but not even a full squadron over the nations capital, after the first lady had been killed?

Olympus has fallen really bugs me.

The old movie Stripes, with Bill Murray is more realistic.

I mean, this movie deserves an award for the Biggest pile of steaming crap to ever grace a movie screen.

What sickens me is this is high budget, with high budget actors.

I can excuse Scyfy and Sharknado.

I am in utter shock people are defending Olympus has Fallen!

*drools on himself in utter disbelief*

*wipes off, and composes himself*

Hollywood retardedness is seeping into me indirectly from board.

Kill it with fire!:D

Damn shame, Gerard Butler was great in this movie, the script was putrid though.

One stupid jet over DC?

jUST ONE?

Lost me there, realistic, nah, Olympus has Fallen is a SCYFY movie with A listers.

I would rather watch Twister again than this. Another pile of excrement.

Django Unchained kinda irked me too.

That "negro" (in the context of the movie) Jamie Foxx got a little too much respect as a negro in that time.

In most plantations he would be told to wait outside.

At the same time, I do not think Quentin Tarantinos movies were meant to be taken seriously.

His style was always "over the top" (dusk til dawn, pulp fiction, 4 rooms)

Unlike this garbage pit I cannot let go.

Stranded (2001)

Just watched it on NetFlix

A crew of six astronauts is about to make the first manned mission to Mars. They suit up and board their lunar lander. Something goes wrong, the lander malfunctions, crashing into the Mars.

Only entertainment value is getting a laugh from the really bad acting and horible script. Cant forgot all the money that went into the special effects of making the 'red planet' red. Wow you really got the feeling you are truely viewing 5 actors dressed in Apollo era spacesuits walking around in the middle of desert through a camera fitted with red lens filter. Everything was so red it made my eyes bleed.

Red planet wasnt supposed to be realistic. Neither was Olympus has fallen. Red planet was totally fictional and olympus has fallen was just supposed to be a movie with big explosions and VIPs kicking arse. They were entertainment movies, action (or in red planet's case, dramatic) flicks with lots of boom boom. Perhaps you set your expectations too high for a more realistic scenario about the president being assaulted, of course it wasn't.

Im surprised nobody has mentioned U-571. I don't think it was bad, but steve and many members of this forum who are VERY passionate about their subs hate it because it had so many errors. Many find it insulting that it was with americans instead of the brits, and that two subs fought each other underwater, but as a movie i didn't think it was bad. It entertained me, once i looked past all the fallacies. It certainly wasnt a memorable flick past the fact that it was one of the few u-boat flicks. At least it wasn't like battleship.

Battleship was just god awful.

Carrie Moss was clearly the best actor in that movie.

Val Kilmer has that look on his face that makes me want to break it.

Something about his smile is just annoying.

The Ghost and The Darkness was a great movie though... :woot:

Code name: Wild Geese

The movie opens with 15 minute unrealistic assault on some compound then the rest of the movie is the same 15 minutes as seen from each and every cast members viewpoint.

"The Ten Commandments"...

Always hated Heston's 'acting'; he actually make Shatner seem a decent actor...

Lets be honest here, movies like Olympus has Fallen, Rambo, Commando, and what not aren't meant to be taken seriously script wise.

I call it "non-sexual porn". AKA, the plot is just meant to string the action along, the movie is meant to focus on the actor's bodies (or in recent years, with less and less muscle men in acting, the special effects), and usually ends in big men exploding.

Don't take these things too seriously, or bring your brain. Just watch and enjoy.

I certainly wouldn't call this the worst, since I like the movie. However, regarding the "Unrealistic" part, the first movie that came to my mind is "The Bridge On The River Kwai". It is so far off from the real story, it's almost absurd.

Was it Wheels of Terror, the film of the book by Sven Hassel?

It was on the telly here and I got halfway through it before I collapsed and and wife had to do an emergency TV shut off by chucking the cat at it...

Need to buy a new TV now, the cat is fine BTW and looking rather smug :arrgh!:

Cheers

Some of those Kung Fu movies (can't remember their names, which is ok by me,lol) made in China where the guy can get past a crowd of people by walking across their heads, they could run up walls, run on the ceilings, fly at times too! Catch any knife thrown at them, grab arrows out of the air, kick somebody in the head 6 times, and the guy jumps right back up! What worthless movies they were!

The Hong Kong movies? Most of that stuff was supposed to be over the top though another example of something not meant to be taken at face value.

For me "The Great Escape" was a terrible, terrible movie I read the book the movie was based on and one of the POWs who helped build the tunnels as a tech adviser. Out of the whole movie about 10% of it was correct everything else was typical Hollywood action garbage. No one tried to jump the Swiss boarder fence on a "borrowed" motorcycle or try's to hijack a training plane in real life but its good stuff for an action flick.
