Not posted here in quite some time and haven't really been subsimming all that much but when the Mrs suggested a trip to Orkney, how could I refuse?

I made sure to take plenty of pics of Scapa flow, the naval museum at Lyness and some other bits and bobs from the WWII era. The museum at Stromness even had part of one of Prien's torps that sank the Oak.

I've tried to take photos of descriptions of museum pieces where I could (or remembered) and have commented on most pics with a brief description.

Hope you enjoy.

Beautiful shots! Lots of cool stuff there. I'm afraid it's someplace I'll never see.

Glad folks liked the photos. I can highly recommend a trip out there if you don't live on the other side of the world. It's a long journey even from here but well worth it. The whole place is steeped in history, not just WWII but right through the ages of man.
