'Tis sad news, although he'd been off my screen since the early '90s (but IMDB has him as working regularly - just nothing I'd watched) he was great double for GRJ, particularly talking heads. RIP Mel.

Oh, I got confused there for a second, reading your OP.
At first, I thought of "Alias Smith And Jones" starring Pete Duel & Ben Murphy. It was one of my favorite TV Western series until Pete Duel committed suicide.:nope:

Sorry for the confusion. Nevertheless, I extend my condolences.

Wasn't familiar with the man...but RIP.
I'm sure there are many who are saddened by this news.
Enjoyed him on both Not the Nine O Clock News and Alas Smith and Jones. He will certainly be missed by those of us who remember his shows.
One of my favourites britcoms. Latter, durring the re-runs on BBC Prime/Entertainment I saw the Not the Nine O Clock News (also with a young Rowan Atkinson) and enjoy also the series!
RIP!

I was unfamiliar with the show, but just now the name finally registered. He was The Albino in The Princess Bride.
Fair winds, Mr Smith.

That is one of my all time favourite films.
Hopefully they'll finally show some decent repeats on the telly, but I'm not holding my breath.

RIP Alex Smith, you brought the 49ers to greatness.
:O:
I couldn't help myself, no disrespect to the "late great"
I always appreciated British comedy, while much drier, and not as "in your face", it forced you to think.
RIP good sir. Not popular here obviously, what I see on the internets of him means I missed alot, after death I discover a great talent. Sucks, I live for funny!
He is almost Ricky Gervais!
Gervaise can't hold a candle to him. I wouldn't put them in the same league.
