For this reason I almost never drink. It happens that I, in very rare cases, buying a new special beer to try tasting it. I take only a sip or two and then no more.

Reactions I get if I drink too much or too often is uncomfortable for me.

I will be bright red and have a strong burning sensation and nausea, as well as strong heartbeat. So I have a very good reason to stay away from alcohol.

Was once told by my doctor that it was a few percent of the world's population, who could not tolerate alcohol from a medical perspective.

Alcohol would be in the water if we were meant to consume it.:03:

It's like everything else I guess. It's not for everybody.:)

All things in moderation... etc

I can't eat anything with chocolate for the same reason. I have some sort of allergic reaction to it. Sucks.

What about wine? Can you drink that? I hear a glass or two every day is good for the heart.

My uncle is allergic to beer. Doesn't get him drunk, just sick. Doesn't seem to have any reaction to wine or whisky, though. Myself, I've definitely drunk beer that leaves me feeling nasty within a few mouthfuls. Don't know enough about it to say why, but it's happened more with lagers than anything else.

The actor Richard E Grant is entirely allergic to alcohol - which makes his performance in Withnail and I all the more brilliant.

Alcohol makes me a a prick, kinda like being sick, but I make everyone else around me uncomfortable, rather than myself.:O:

I get by with a little help from my friends.

I met in my travels quite a few people with allergic reactions to alcohol.
I met them in the rooms, one guy developed the same symptoms as you later in life.

It may even be a blessing in disguise. I am an ex drunk. Technically still a drunk I guess. I got some time sober though.

Alot of people cannot take one sip and put it down. I wish I caught that reaction, an immediate destruction of my body, would be easier to comprehend than the slow painless one most drunks endure.

Which makes his admission all the more shocking.

Just for some folks beer is not good. Some guys get rashes, others beat thier wives or wrap the car around some walking teenagers.

Some die of fatty liver (my attempt to spell cirrhosis will fail), yellow jaundiced skin and eyes, and screaming in pain, because their liver cannot filter out toxins anymore.

Have another one ;) j/k

Double up the porn dosage, no beer though!

Don't feel pressured that you should drink alcohol. If you don't wanna drink, don't. Good on ya!

I'm a light/social drinker myself, I never drink at home, most of my time is taken up by fatherhood, 3d modelling and the odd video game, none of which mix well with alcohol IMO.
There is a culture in the UK of the more you can drink the 'cooler you are' type thing. But that is mostly upheld by idiots and I really couldn't give a toss about 'being cool' anymore anyway:P

I hardly ever drink. Every great once in a while I will allow myself one shot maybe one every few years. The reason I don't drink is like soopa - I am a very mean drunk. I learned who I "became" when I was intoxicated, and I didn't like that person. So I figured if I don't like it, why become it?

I am already enough of a arse already - no need to make it worse LOL!

I am not Danish - but maybe I should double - no - quadruple my intake of porn - just in case.... :har:

ALLERGIC RESPONSE TO ALCOHOL

True anaphylactic or anaphylactoid reactions to ALCOHOL (ethanol) are rare. Most reactions to ingested alcoholic beverages are secondary to other chemicals in the beverage such as yeasts, metabisulfite, papain, or dyes. However, there are reports of true allergic reactions in which the offending agent was shown to be the ethanol itself.
Symptoms of anaphylaxis have been reported to occur in several subjects following ingestion of beer and/or wine, and these symptoms were reproduced in one patient by administration of 95 percent ethanol. Hives have been reported with ethanol ingestion, and hives on contact with ethanol have been reported for some Asian patients. Bronchospasm was precipitated in some asthmatic patients by administration of ethanol, and contact hypersensitivity to 50 percent ethanol solution was produced in 6 percent of subjects tested. These allergic responses differ from the "flush" reaction exhibited in individuals (especially Asians) with acetaldehyde dehydrogenase abnormalities.

Are you Asian?

My uncle makes a kickass "homebrew" out of corn, can ya get to Alabama? He also got a wicked potato mash, that will strip chrome off a bumper.

We can test this out, maybe make the medical journals!:O:

Denmark isn't all just beer and porn, there's also bacon - how could you forget the bacon?

Cost too much to drink ... I prefer the habit of eating good food.

American Indians and native Hawaiians have the same problem of not being able to hold their liquor which is quite different than your problem of alcohol making you sick ...

still it's worth mentioning that some people just can't handle the effects of alcohol.

again it simply makes my pocketbook empty is why I stay at home. :yep:

my knowledge about Denmark is based on:
The Olsen Gang film
a documentary about the presence of porn in the Danish society.

There might be some areas of life which haven't been covered in the mentioned material.
beer, porn and bacon.
seems legit.:)

Most things taken in moderation should be okay....I try to ignore that rule where alcohols concerned.

Bacon should never be eaten in moderation, en masse or not at all!

To all my danish friends, less vodka, more bacon.

You die faster from a heart attack, liver damage is slow and painful.

It is relatively easy to home brew.

I used to make a orange juice hooch, that would double as a floor cleaner. (kidding, too sticky)

Juice, sugar, yeast, bleach jug (already sterilized)

Vent once a day, then near freeze it and filter, keep in your fridge. It is actually pretty tasty. 2 weeks at most a batch

I estimated it at about 10-12% abv

Works better with apple or grape juice, but any 100% juice product will do.

When I was young I got trunked almost every weekend and I got this famous headache a.s.o the day after or as it is called hangover

I can't recall when I got allergic to alcohol.

Yesterday I bought a new beer in our local store that I had to try out.

It was a beer from Rise Bryggeri a beer with a taste of Walnut.

For your information..you do not need to be drunk to be round on the floor
