Well I haven't been around these parts for a quite a while. I was here for the journey of Silent Hunter 3 and Silent Hunter 4. Fun times and some good conversations with the Devs. Dan, I hope you are well. You are good people. :)
So, I thought I might give Silent Hunter 5 a go. I have a new Windows 8 Laptop. It's not a high end Laptop, but I think it should run the game OK. Where can I download the game so that Subsim benefits?
Hi Neal.....I'm going to make a donation now. important that Subsim survives. It has always been an excellent source of information, and some great folks here. :)

Thanks. My plan is to download the game, then download the JSGME mod enabler, then download some kind of mega mod, then enjoy the game.
I don't want to get bogged down in constantly downloading mods. Been there...done that. So I guess I have some research to do. :)

Wow...feels like I've been away for years. Is any digital download considered a 'Steam' version of the game? I was going to buy the download version. would I be better off with the CD?

It's good to see you here again! :sunny:
Looks like they've got you covered as far as Amazon goes. Actually if you buy anything at all through that link Subsim gets a cut.

Hi Steve, great to see that you're still here. This is an awesome community. Hey, you'll know the answer to this...are there any advantages to the download version of SH5 versus the DVD version of the game or vice versa? I intend to download the game from Amazon tonight using the Subsim link so that the forum gets a cut. :)

Welcome back Sir :salute:

I am running SH5 on a laptop myself.
Specs:
i5 processor @ 2.26 GHz
4 GB of memory
ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5650 GPU
Win7 x64 OS
Not the best you can imagine, but still acceptable :)

Not really, as far as you stay away from the Steam version (the download version availble from Amazon should be okay).
P.S: don't waste your money on the Gold Edition ;)
I intend to download the game from Amazon tonight using the Subsim link so that the forum gets a cut. :)
