June 1945, my orders are to the Sea of Japan, which will no doubt be final patrol before war is over given by time, make transit, hunt, and return home war will be over or close to being over.Considering entering via Tsushima Straits and exiting La Perouse. Tsushima is heavily mined in the game but unfortunately the devs didnt include FM sonar and mod attempts never worked out.Ducimus had a great concept if I recall as he made mines emit noise when sonar was trained on them, but it cause huge lag and CTD and was dropped due to this.No one ever found a way to make it work. So, has anyone made it through submerged without FM sonar? How so?

Well, I don't blame you for being uneasy.

Would you have a realistic chance of making a dash through on the surface?

Normally, no. I added a lot of patrols in Tsushima Straits to make it fairly impossible(as in real life) to transit in 1945 surfaced without being detected. However, as I was about to chance it and dive, a storm rolled in that morning, with visibility at nothing, I went to flank speed, two escorts with radar came close about half way up and closed at high speed(likely DD or DE's, i couldnt outrun them) but couldnt spot me visually, played cat and mouse in the storm.I made it into the SOJ before storm cleared. Thus far have about 30k tons down with 4 torpedoes left after two weeks in the SOJ, fun patrol.

In clear weather I submerge around mines and hope I can go deep enough with the scope up so tat it is under water and used as a window ... you get just enough time after spotting the mines to make course corrections ... unless there is one directly under you that you miss LOL

Good way to cap off the War.
