I love the 'eat a curry option' :sunny:

Soaring temperatures in the UK have been welcome for some. But how can people keep comfortable when the mercury rises?
There are a number of simple solutions which might not always be obvious

I can vouch for beer personally, although in my case it has bad side effects.

Like divorce, even more raving rants than I give already, slurring anger, etc..

I loves me some milk, cold to near frozen. mmmmmm.

That and your air conditioner, it is 90f plus for the next week here.

I don't plan on drinking. I've said that multiple times. I see too much bad come from it in my community.

AC is a wonderful invention too...it's also pretty good when the vents are above a ceiling fan. :sunny:

Lying on a linoleum floor is another good way to cool off. Particularly if its built on a concrete slab. Acts as a great heat sink.

I can vouch for that.

That works wonders. Hardwood is good too. Of course you could just get a freezer that sits horizontally and lay in it. :arrgh!:

5 minutes in a cold shower always lasts a long time for me.

take one of those spray bottles, clean anything that may be inside it, fill it with water and mist it onto your face. having 105 degree weather in the valleys of california i can vouch for this as well.

Wear a big coat, then you can feel cooler when you take it off.

I love the 'eat a curry option' :sunny:

It wotks.
I am surprised the BBC didn't mention a cup of tea, that works too.

Doesn't the laying on the floor kinda go along with the drinking of beer? :D

Sometimes it can involuntarily lead to this form of heat relief. :O:

I concur, this simple method really works. Last night I had the wife sleep in the kitchen, and our bed was much cooler as a result of less body heat. :haha:

Didn't know there were right and wrong ways to lay on the floor. :O:

Let me take a look at this list...

Wear wet clothes
The amount of people I have seen wearing cloths with sweat marks has been high, no one is going to walk around in wet cloths you become more clammy and sticky even more no thank you.

Stick your hands in cold water
Great way to wast water and effects soon wear off.

Fans next to windows
Yes this one dose work but only after midnight to about four in the morning after that your just blowing hot air back into your room.

Eat a curry
More sweat making you hotter! Sod off..I don't even touch a drop of booze in this kind of weather.

Bedouin robes
Pass, I'm not a Arab.

Lukewarm showers
Again wast of water for a 5 minute cool off and your back to being hot.

Sash windows

This lets rising warm air out of the top while drawing cooler air through the bottom.
Rubbish all I feel is hot air coming up from below!

Fan your face
Your joking! I'm not having more hot air blown in my face thank you.

What a poor list...Jon Kelly, your fired!
