On today’s Noon newscast on KTVU, the station claimed it had “just learned the names of the 4 pilots on board” Asiana flight 214 which crashed last Saturday. But the station was given bad information that made it all the way into the newscast. If you read the names it becomes immediately clear this is a joke, which went unnoticed by the newsroom, producers and the anchor.
You’ll recall earlier this week, KTVU touted its coverage as being not only first, but “100% accurate.”

And it's not even the first time this joke is played either. I remember reading about something much like this going on for hours on some airport, until finally someone recognized it for what it was. Two guys were giving funny names like these to be called at the arrival area. I'll try to find it, but no promises.

The police was called in and the jokers identified.

...but it's so funny that it deserves better recognition than most of those jokes. LOL :D

In my younger years I played a joke like this on the receptionist at the car dealer I worked at:
It was pretty darn mean, but I had her page over the P.A.: "Paging Mr. Highman, Mr. Buster Highman, your car is ready" you could hear her catch it and go "hey..!" just as she turned off her mic....that got every tech in the shop rolling, but the boss was not amused at all, nor was the receptionist...
Thankfully sexual harassment hadn't been invented yet...:har:

There is a radio show I listen to on Sattellite radio, with a comedian Jim Norton, who does really funny/weird/creepy characters.
One of them is "Uncle" Paul Harrgus who is a pedophile. It is done to creep people out, not to glorify, so don't flip on me. I appreciate and love me some shock jocks. The character is utterly repulsive.
My point is, some fans managed to get "uncle" Paul on to some news station "birthday wishes" segment. (using photoshopped images of Jim Norton.)

Part of his bit was "I am 57 years young, 58 in March" but he has not aged in 2 plus years.
My point, the press is stupid. Beyond stupid.

I haven't seen the news lately, are we expecting rioting from the asian community because of this racist joke? :har:
I've got my Louisville Slugger beside my desk just in case. :D

They forgot the flight attendants Sum Dum Fok, and Bob.
Yeah Bob.
Laugh at me if you want, but Bob has to be guilty!
He is the only one without a silly name!

Don't even go there. :rotfl2: RON BURGUNDY IS A LEGEND! :haha:
I just wish the media wasn't as biased. I have no problem with the anchors.

Not being a native English speaker I had trouble with this one. I had to "google" it up and research a bit.
I am still laughing hard. I can easily imagine everyone cracking up real hard. I'm sure it's still remembered today.
Well played:up:
