Five DD's down...June 1944

On the mod I am building, I have made it so player can attempt to replicate USS Harder's outstanding 5th war patrol off Tawi Tawi in June 1944 by putting the appropriate DD's in Sibutu Pass and off Tawi Tawi. Dates and times are historically correct as well(such as tanker convoy passing through sibutu pass on night of June 6).I missed the convoy that Harder attacked on June 6th (and sunk one of her escorting DD's) due to my patrol not starting until June 1, could not make it the area in time but soon located two DD's patroling Sibutu Passage on morning of June 8, sank them both via track angles.Then off Tawi Tawi the next evening, ambushed one , then took out the other with a down the throat shot.Another DD in the area arrived on scene 10 minutes later, sunk herwith another down the throat shot while a plane from Tawi Tawi dropped bombs and strafed my scope.Sometimes, this sim is too much fun.

Actually did turn out to be a great patrol, I had three fish left in bow tubes and one in stern.On night of June 13 the TF leaving Tawi Tawi heading for Philippine Sea came up the Sibutu Passage(Harder sent a contact report, then sank two of it's DD's that charged) I was able to get inside the screen due to heavy seas, right under the DD's, came to scope depth, had a Hiyo carrier 300 yards off port, next column large carrier, didnt have time to ID, or track just made a quick observation, dropped scope to didnt get spotted, fired all 3 fish at 10 second intervals.All 3 hit something as I went deep, large explosions a few minutes later, carrier burning.About 20 minutes later came up to scope depth, carrier listing and burning while rest of fleet moves on, soon it exploded , rolled over and sank.Got credit for a Shokaku carrier.Went to Darwin to refit, then went to tanker lanes in South China Sea since had only been out 13 days.Sank two tankers and a troopship, endured an intense depth charging. Pushed my Gato 50 570 feet to get away.11 ships escorted by 6 escorts, late war can be tough.
