I can't tell anyone at work, as it's yet to be announced, and I need to tell someone.
I just more than doubled my annual income today. I was offered a position as a municipal bond trader. I jumped all over it as if it was a busty redhead with a few beers in her. It's variable...you get a commission based on the volume of business that your desk does at work, but I have a guaranteed minimum salary (even that is more than I'm making now) if things go really south. But the average salary for this position has been pretty lucrative in past years. I am friggin over the moon.
I am having my celebratory steak and beers in our newly built home that we just moved into two weeks ago. To paraphrase from The Simpsons: "Everything's coming up Mookie!"

So, does that make you "the man?"
Are you a 1%er now?
So, in other words, what you're say is, the next subsim meet is at your house?

What it means is that when I espouse my socialist, liberal, commie, left-wing, pinko opinion on taxing the rich, it means I'll have some skin in the game and I'll be talking about myself.
I used to say to my right-leaning friends "You know, I HOPE I have to worry about taxation on the rich. It means I'm RICH!"

Hey, that's great news.:yeah: Doubling one's salary is no small accomplishment, especially in today's economy.
Congratulations.
Well done that man! Great news mate. I'm about to change jobs myself I handed my notice in at work yesterday and start the new job on 5 August. Not as big a kick in the wallet as yours but a modest increase which will do. I was about to post a thread with the same name when I saw yours.

That is great news. Glad to hear it. Hard work pays off. There has been plenty of threads discussing that fact. Start doubling your 401k contributions. :03:

If my firm underwrites a municipal bond deal (meaning that we help the issuer get the deal to market - they get the funds they need to build a road, school, sewer system, etc. and we get the bonds) - then I would help oversee our sales force's efforts to market the bonds to their customer book.
My desk also would trade bonds with other broker/dealers on the street, meaning that if another firm had attractive bonds on their inventory that I think were a good deal and that our salespeople could sell, I would buy those bonds and hold them in our inventory while our salespeople worked them. If the market moves and those bonds started looking bad, we would sell them to other dealers on the street.
Wheelin' n' dealin' mainly.
