I keep reading about using different GUI options. What are these, and what do they do?:06:
I tried to search this but I guess GUI is too short.

GUI = General User Interface.

The main game screens, and in SH3's case the user interfaces within the game. Best example that springs to mind is MacGUI . But I'm positive Hitman has released an example.

Best regards.

I think it's actually Graphic User Interface. And yes, the way you interact with the game is the GUI. Anything that changes that is called a GUI mod. Some add extra functions to the screen so you don't have to go to a different screen to make torpedo calculations. I use one that does the opposite, removing everything from the screen and making all the user bits into slideouts.

There are several different GUI mods available.

there are mny out there but most are built off of the OLC gui mod (cant remember the official name. one of the most popular on subsim though is MAGUI.

I downloaded Magui, unrared it and imported it to JSGME and enabled it, but I don't see any difference:wah:

OK, I put all the Optional sub folders in and they appear to work.
1. What about the archived files?
2. Is there a manual to how to operate in the new GUI?
3. When I enabled some of the options, I got a warning that GWX had already modified some items, and did I want to enable the GUI mod or not.

yes you will want to enable. its just going to overwrite some of the files ofwhatever GWX mods and maybe more there should be a readme in the mod somewhere. makman is very good at writing his readmes. as to how to operate anything that is changed from the stock game should be mentioned somewhere if not just ask and you will get support

When you unpacked the MaGUI .rar file, you found inside it a folder named "README", a folder named "Tutorials-Notes" and a compressed .rar file named "Documents for the tools of MaGUI". These folders contain 16 files, covering everything from installation to use to special tactics. There is a 36-page manual for the Attack Disk alone. After you have read and absorbed this material, I'm sure there are a number of people who will help you with any additional questions.
