This has been asked before (not by me) but there never was an answer as far as i can tell. I want to have the game on one monitor and my other project(s) and programs on the other. I know an easy but expensive solution is to repair/purchase a second computer, jury rig the current solution of not full screen, or there is a solution that will allow the game to run on one scree while i work on another.

I did have an idea but i never could get the widescreen mods to work (this would fall under solution 2). The idea was to use the widescreen mod files to edit the resolution that is still the native 4:3 aspect ratio. So if someone helped me with that it would be apreciated and as easy.

I did get to show SH3 on my main screen full screen, and a browser in a secondary screen. But as soon as I click anything outside of the game, it minimizes the game so you won't really be able to play it while doing other stuff.

I didn't use any special stuff like widescreen mod or somthing. Just a plane old external monitor to my laptops vga output.

Is that the behaviour that you are getting also?

I forgot, does SH3 have an option to run inside a window? Or can it only be full screen?

it can run in windowed but on a screen that is 1900x1200 things are quite small still running some expeirements going to play with my video card settings when i get the chance and have both monitors.

How much computer capability do your other projects require? You can get a reasonably capable small laptop for less than the price of a fancy monitor. No gonzo graphics or Photoshopping perhaps, but still a usable machine, much more than just Net access. Network them and you can grab data from the big guy as needed. Would something like that meet your needs.?

most of my work would be working on the PDF for HAHD right now an using the internet. so really not much. watching system usage SH3 only uses 45% of all round res. I already have a second monitor from when i used my old beat up desk top that the motherboard is fried that i just either can't summon the energy to replace or something comes around that suckes the money i had saved for the MB.

but yeah a BW something like that would work. just trying to save as much money as possible.

my experiment results for option 2. after pluging in the screen (it was an older screen supported resolution that was slightly better then 1024x76) 8to my laptop via VGA changing settings so things were not cloned. i booted SH3 up. started on my laptop monitor as that was selected as my primary display. well things wen sour after navigation training mission loaded i could look right and down but not left and up. or after letting go of the mouse button the mouse would zip back to the laptop screen. tried a e different things but all failed. probably going to break down and buy a second laptop or wait till little bro gets his new one and pillage that one as it still has a respectable 15 inch screen so(and 15 inches is my bare minimum anything smaller causes me to strain my eyes).
