So I am a huge silent hunter 3 fan and I just discovered subsim.com. I saw all the possibilities with the mods and got really excited. The mod I wanted was GWX 3.0. So I clicked on the download link and was taken to a donation page. Now I normally don't mind donating to a modding community or the forums that support them but I usually at least like to try the mod and make sure it works before I donate. Honestly mods have been hit and miss for me since I use a mac.
So I was still excited to play the mod so I donated some cash and was directed to the download page. Once I clicked the link though, I was given a message that stated "you do not have permission to access this page". It stated several reason why I would not have permission to include I reached my download limit or that I didn't activate my count but it said I could possible rectify the situation by becoming an officer in the subsim navy which would require more money.
I understand bandwidth is expensive but I was a little offended that you would let me donate money to get a mod that I still cant download unless I pay more money. I never downloaded anything so I don't know why I would have reach a limit on anything. I have a suggestion on how you can save some money on bandwidth though, you could augment your secure server download service with torrents.
Anyway I guess this is kind of a cry for help as well, I would just like to download a couple of mods and if it requires I need to pay X amount of dollars to do that then please let me know what that number is so I can make an informed decision.
