A World War II submarine undergoing a £7m makeover has had its newly-restored hull unveiled.
The HMS Alliance, which is the UK's last surviving submarine from the war, is based at the Submarine Museum in Gosport, Hampshire.

It is good to see that another Royal Navy heritage vessel is being kept for the nation. :salute:

Huzzah! But it wasn't a WWII sub. It wasn't completed until 1947. BBC journo's need to do their research better.

They mean WWII era submarine, with first of the class launched in 1943.

But that's not what they wrote.:03: Also they were ordered in 1943 but not in commission until 1945. Amphion the first of the class was launched in 1944. Only Amphion and Astute were completed before the end of WWII.

I could claim that date was a typing error, 3 instead of 4, but I misread the article.

That's OK. You know someone here would pick up any factual errors. :D

^hahaha.

There is a webcam on it but for me, at least, it appears to be stuck at 8pm on the 23rd January 1970 :hmmm: - http://submarine-museum.co.uk/webcam.html

Edit- over 3 hours later the same guy is still in the same position!
