Dunno if this is the right forum for this bit of gossip, just got an email from Ubi about a security update regarding my account.

More here : https://support.ubi.com/en-GB/FAQ.aspx?platformid=60&brandid=2030&productid=3888&faqid=kA030000000eYYxCAM

Time to be resetting those passwords :arrgh!:

I doubt it. Over the last year Ubi has been in the process of ruining their forum with new rules and future security updates. It's the reason that forum is dead, we all left.

You know what I really *&$^*& hate? The fact that they don't say exactly what is compromised, and to what extent.

Which one of their sites was compromised?

They're welcome to my account and details, it's been years since I used it anyway.

Yea have not used that account for a long time so no biggie.

@tyrant : they don't say specifically which site it was, ahem, 'compromised'

From the blurb :

We recently found that one of our Web sites was exploited to gain unauthorised access to some of our online systems. We instantly took steps to close off this access, to begin a thorough investigation with relevant authorities, internal and external security experts, and to start restoring the integrity of any compromised systems.

During this process, we learned that data were illegally accessed from our account database, including user names, email addresses and encrypted passwords. No personal payment information is stored with Ubisoft, meaning your debit/credit card information was safe from this intrusion.

and :

How did this happen? Which website was exploited? Where did it come from?
Credentials were stolen and used to illegally access our online network. We can’t go into specifics for security reasons.

Has any of my personal data been compromised?
The intruder was able to access account data including user names, email addresses and encrypted password. To our knowledge, no other personal information (phone numbers, physical addresses etc. was accessed). No personal payment information is stored with Ubisoft, meaning your credit/debit card information was not at risk from this intrusion.

Never fear though cos the experts are on it.

The only bit that's gets me is this 'To our knowledge, no other personal information (phone numbers, physical addresses etc. was accessed.'

I'm sure it's nothing to worry about,I mean we all trust ubi here....right?

As Kremmen takes a last drag on his cigarette all is still save for a few crickets chirping and a tumbleweed or two......

Sorry couldn't resist :rotfl2:

Why would anyone want to hack a two bit outfit like Ubisoft?:hmmm:
There's no logic in it.:88)

Because they can. If you were a burgler, and had a choice between the well kept house that was secure and had an alarm system or a house that looked like it was not well kept and no alarm, which would you choose?

I never bought anything from them. I only had it because I needed it for Xbox Live and when I first bought SH5. :hmmm:
