Our southern neighbours joined the EU today.

Not much to add from me. I wish them the best of luck. They may be arrogant nationalists that can't govern themselves without almost starting a civil war, but they are the same as us. Two brats of a nations playing on whats now a burned up daddies house while waiting for a new father to build us a new one.

I'll just post some pictures

How much are they going to be putting into the kitty annually? :hmmm:

Even more importantly...how much are they going to be getting out of the kitty annually? :o

Simply curious :03:

good that the eu found another weak and problematic candidate to join, we were recently in danger of running out of problems.

just left Croatia two weeks ago. Its a nice place, very touristy.

the beaches though, they SUCK. The water is good, but all rocks no sand.

just take a cruise that stops at Dubrovnik. Its a better idea than driving down there like what we did

nah.
There are lots of sandy beaches e.g. in the Split area.
But I guess the majority are rocky ones.

indeed.
My parents and I were in Kastela in 1998. They took a 6 hour bus trip to Dubrovnik, they spent 2 hours in the city and a 6 hour trip back. I was smart enough not to go.
I saw Dubrovnik in 2004 when I was in Bosnia.

Hey Sky, what is really going on about Turkey? For donkey years they have been trying to join and still the EU says no to them, there must be something going on behind the scenes for this reason.

As the old saying goes: The easy way to the man's mind is through his stomach. When I was in Germany a few weeks back, I saw Turkish food everywhere!

The turks have already taken over the brains of the Germans!

Croatia is great through, I really enjoyed the Plitvace Lakes National Park.

Democracy and Human Rights - or the lack of them, are the reasons given. And Cyprus.

And if you're really bored - here (http://ec.europa.eu/enlargement/pdf/key_documents/2012/package/tr_rapport_2012_en.pdf).

in b4 Sky's tl;dr dissertation

from wiki:

"Turkey (...) European Turkey comprises 3% of the country."

That's enough to keep them away from our cultural structures.
