Starting SH5

Decided to start with SH5... Had the DVD for a while and decided to wait a while (:D probably the best part of 2 years) before I play.

Just a question or two on updating/patching/playing..

1) Is Updating/patching this done automatically online via UBI.. or does one download the patches.
2) Do we still need to be online (have a net connection) to play.

1 yes its done automaticly and IIRC you can also click on the updater to do it if needed

2 it "calls home" when you start the game to verify you then it no longer communicates with ubi. there was some debate as to wether it completely lets you sever all connection to ubi but i never looked into it that much.

You still need to be online to register the game one time. You haven't had to be online to play for almost two years.

Another one... Can one install patch V1.2 directly over V1.0 or must I install patch V1.1 over V1.0 first ?

It's cumulative patch.. install it over v1.0..
